The All-Star Break is over, baseball is back, and all is right in the world as the Los Angeles Dodgers play host to the Milwaukee Brewers this evening.

Featuring two of the top teams in the National League, my Brewers vs. Dodgers predictions are bullish on Shohei Ohtani having another elite night at the plate.

Brewers vs Dodgers prediction

My Brewers vs Dodgers best bet: Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 total bases (-115 at bet365)

It should come as no surprise that Shohei Ohtani was a force of nature for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first half of the season, blasting 32 home runs with a 168 wRC+.

He’s been especially powerful against right-handed pitchers (.378 ISO), leading to a 178 wRC+.

For their part, the Milwaukee Brewers are sending out right-hander Quinn Priester to start the first game back from the All-Star Break.

Although the 24-year-old posted an impressive 3.55 ERA and 3.73 xERA across 17 appearances, this is a tough ask for him on the road at Dodger Stadium.

The former first-round pick doesn’t make batters miss with a high rate of frequency (18.8% K rate), so Ohtani should be able to put the ball into play and make some noise.

Priester doesn’t have overwhelming stuff (98 Stuff+) and isn’t a master of command (98 Pitching+), so he’s ripe for regression in the second half once batters start making reads on him.

What better place for that to begin than Chavez Ravine, especially against a talent like Ohtani?

Brewers vs Dodgers same-game parlay (SGP)

Dodgers moneyline

Tyler Glasnow 6+ strikeouts

Shohei Ohtani o1.5 total bases / Christian Yelich o0.5 H+R+RBI

LA was swept by Milwaukee right before the break amid a seven-game losing streak, so there will be extra emphasis on winning this series.

Tyler Glasnow boasts a 28.9% K rate and gives his team a great chance of taking Game 1. One batter who won’t be easy to retire, however, is Christian Yelich, who owns a 148 wRC+ against right-handed pitching.
