Krest's prediction: Mexico obliterates an overmatched Brazil.

Brazil has had a rough time in the WBC. The Brazilians scored in the top of the first inning in both exhibition games, and that’s been the only time Team Brazil has led in four games.

Next up is a Mexican team that beat the Diamondbacks, played the champion Dodgers close, and blew out Great Britain.

Our Brazil vs Mexico predictions and World Baseball Classic best bets think Mexico rolls in a big way on Sunday, March 8.

Brazil vs Mexico prediction

Brazil vs Mexico best bet: Mexico -7.5 (+100)

Brazil has trailed for 25 of its 32 innings.

The Brazilians lost to the A’s and Texas in games both stopped by mercy rule in the seventh, before giving up 15 to the U.S., and eight to Italy.

Brazilian batters have struck out more than half the time in the WBC — 31 out of 61 at-bats. Tonight, they face veteran Mexican starter Taijuan Walker, who has 1,088 career strikeouts in MLB. Mexico’s batters have scored 21 runs in three games, and should march to a lopsided win against an overmatched opponent.

Brazil vs Mexico same-game parlay (SGP)

Mexico -7.5

Over 12

The shutout loss to Italy is the only time in four games Team Brazil hasn’t seen BOTH teams score in the first. Mexico has been slower to score but should break through against the overmatched Brazilians.

The starting pitcher for Brazil, Eric Pardinho, was released by Toronto without reaching MLB last August. He’s started just 23 of 140 minor-league appearances.

While Walker is an established big leaguer, he’s been a journeyman or worse lately. He has FIPs of 4.5 or higher each of the last three seasons and WHIPs of 1.3 or more over that span. Mexico will win big, but there will be plenty of runs on the board from both sides.

The Tampa Bay Rays' hitting machine has been dialed in for Team Mexico.

In two exhibitions and one WBC game, he’s gone 5-for-10 with hits in all three outings. He has a homer, a double, and two walks, scoring four runs and driving in three. He was also 5-for-13 with a .928 OPS in six spring training games for the Rays before leaving for the WBC.
