The Toronto Blue Jays will look to split their four-game set against the Detroit Tigers when they finish off the series at Comerica Park on Sunday afternoon.
Yusei Kikuchi gets the call for Toronto as the left-hander looks to earn his first win since April 22, and the odds may be in his favour against a Tigers squad that’s averaged just over three runs per game through their last seven outings.
Find out if Kikuchi can help Toronto earn the series split in my MLB picks and Blue Jays vs Tigers predictions for Sunday, May 26.
Blue Jays vs Tigers prediction
My best bet
Tigers team total Under 3.5 (-115 at PROLINE+)
My analysis
It was another low-scoring game for the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, who eked out a 2-1 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays thanks to a two-run homer from Kelly Carpenter in the first inning.
Although Detroit has picked up back-to-back wins against Toronto, the Tigers offense remains cold and things won’t get any easier for them against Yusei Kikuchi, who’s had a strong start to his campaign.
The Jays starter will look to improve on his 2-4 record Sunday as he has not earned a win in five straight starts despite putting up some pretty solid performances for his club. Kikuchi’s six quality starts rank second on the team behind only Jose Berrios (nine), while his 2.64 ERA is first on the club among all starters and Top 20 across the majors.
Kikuchi has pitched at least six innings in seven of his last eight starts while allowing two earned runs or fewer in seven of those games. Meanwhile, the Tigers have averaged just 3.14 runs per game over their last seven contests and have scored three runs or fewer in five of their last six ballgames.
With Kikuchi looking good on the mound and the Tigers’ offense running cold, I’ll look for the hosts to score Under 3.5 runs this afternoon.

My best bet
Bo Bichette Over 1.5 hits (+110 at PROLINE+)
Bo Bichette was held hitless in Saturday’s loss but the Jays shortstop has been red hot over the past week, notching 11 hits and 17 total bases through his last eight games. With a struggling Casey Mize getting the start for the Tigers, I’ll look for Bo to cash in another two hits.
