The runs continue to come in bunches in Toronto Blue Jays games. Unfortunately, it was the Philadelphia Phillies who did most of the damage last night.
But one guy who did his part was Addison Barger, who went deep again. My Blue Jays predictions break down why Barger will stay hot and keep the scoring coming in Wednesday night’s Game 2.
Check out my best bet and a same-game parlay and MLB picks for tonight's Blue Jays matchup against the Phillies.

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Blasting Barger!
Addison Barger Over 1.5 total bases (+100 at BetVictor)
Toronto Blue Jays starter Bowden Francis continued to struggle as the Philadelphia Phillies jumped out to a 7-0 lead in Tuesday night’s opener.
While the Jays were able to manage some baserunners, they were never able to come through with the clutch hit they needed to get back into the game, in what was an eventual 8-3 loss.
It was enough to cash yesterday’s best bet, which was the Over 8.5 for the full-game total. While I like the scoring to continue thanks to a pitching matchup featuring an inconsistent Jose Berrios and an inexperienced Mick Abel, I’m leaning toward the Over once again.
Unfortunately, oddsmakers have adjusted the total to 9.5, so it doesn’t make “best bet” status. For that, I go to a player prop. Specially, one for Addison Barger.
The 25-year-old in his second big league season is on fire. The Blue Jays showed more confidence in Barger by letting him start vs. a left-hander last night, and it paid off. Barger went deep in the bottom of the eighth inning last night. Not only did he help us cash the Over last night, but it was the fourth straight game he’s hit a home run.
Barger is now hitting a crazy .393 with a 1.344 OPS, which includes six extra-base hits and eight RBIs over his last eight games. To show just how locked in he’s been, Barger has struck out just four times while earning three walks during that period.
I’m betting he stays hot tonight. That’s in part because the Phillies hand the ball to rookie Mick Abel.
The 23-year-old right-hander is making just his second career start. While his first start was outstanding, Barger and the Blue Jays should provide more resistance than the bumbling Pittsburgh Pirates did.
Barger has been much stronger against righties all season with a .282 average and an .883 OPS. He’s topped 1.5 total bases, a number he’s topped in seven of his last eight games. And at even money I’ll happily back him to do it again in this matchup.
Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)
With Barger hitting in the No. 5 hole, he’ll have a chance to drive in some of the Blue Jays' big boppers, including Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladdy went 0-for-3 last night, but remember he ranks in the 99th percentile in expected batting average. So, back-to-back 0-fer nights are unlikely, particularly against an inexperienced starter like Abel.
Guerrero has been on base so much it’s not surprising that he leads the Blue Jays in runs scored with 35. He’s scored at least once in 24 of his last 32 games, so I'm taking Over 0.5 runs scored for Vladdy here.
We also saw how dangerous this Phillies lineup is, putting up seven runs in the first two innings of last night’s game, and I wouldn’t be shocked if they continue to be a tough out tonight.
Jose Berrios gets the ball for the Jays, and while he’s been better in May, he still enters this game ranked in the 23rd percentile when it comes to expected ERA.
So, with both sides expected to score, let’s round this same-game parlay out with the Over 9.5.
