If the Toronto Blue Jays want to be a competitive ball club in 2025, they need to win the series against bad teams. Let me introduce you to the Los Angeles Angels.

The Halos can’t hit, and they mostly can’t pitch. Mostly gives credit to what tonight’s starter, Tyler Anderson, has done this season. But the Jays, including Vladimir Guerrero Jr., have good numbers against the veteran left-hander.

A Vladdy player prop and same-game parlay highlight my Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks for this Tuesday, May 6 matchup.

Blue Jays predictions for May 6

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: TEASER

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases (+110 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays are coming off a tough series loss to the Cleveland Guardians where they had a legitimate chance to win all three games.

They enter this series with the Los Angeles Angels at 16-18 but will have a chance to bounce back because things have been far from heavenly for the Halos.

The Angels sit in last place in the American League West at 13-20. They have scored the second-fewest runs in the AL while giving up the second-most.

Now, you can’t blame tonight’s starter, Tyler Anderson, for those runs. The veteran left-hander enters this matchup with a 2.67 ERA. However, his expected ERA is nearly a run higher at 3.61.

Anderson is also getting barrelled up at a high rate and has been getting a little lucky with his fastball. Opponents have a .529 expected slugging against it despite just a .138 batting average.

Anderson also doesn’t have great numbers against the Blue Jays. Current Jays batters have combined for a .296 xBA and a .519 xSLG over 91 plate appearances against the veteran lefty.

Not surprisingly, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has done a lot of the damage. Vladdy is 6-for-11 with two doubles in his career vs. the Angels’ southpaw, good for a .352 xBA and a .436 xSLG.

Vladdy also comes looking like he’s ready to bust out. He ranks in the 89th percentile or better in xBA, average exit velocity, barrel rate, hard-hit rate, and bat speed.

That has played well against Anderson. So, let’s back Vladdy to go Over 1.5 total bases, which he's done in three of his last six games.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI

Daulton Varsho Over 1.5 total bases

Let’s continue with the theme that Guerrero will have a productive night at the plate and add him to drive in a run.

Vladdy has driven in six over his last five games, bringing his total up to 18 on the season. He will continue to have opportunities to drive in runs hitting behind Bo Bichette, who is batting .288 and is 3-for-4 in his career vs. Anderson.

Another Blue Jays batter who has great numbers against Anderson is Daulton Varsho. The Jays Gold Glove center fielder is a remarkable 7-for-12 with three doubles and a home run in his career vs. the Angels’ lefty.

That works out to a .433 xBA and a .634 xSLG. Varsho has looked good since his return to the Toronto lineup. Add Over 1.5 total bases to close out this SGP.
