NRFI/YRFI bets for May 30
White Sox at Orioles: YRFI (-111 at ProphetX)
The Chicago White Sox score a run in the first inning in 35.7% of their games — the fifth-highest number in the majors.
They should get on the board early tonight against Zach Eflin and the Baltimore Orioles. Eflin has a 6.14 FIP through six starts and has pitched to an ugly 7.50 ERA in the opening frame.
Baltimore's lineup should also have success against right-hander Sean Burke. The Orioles have struggled against strikeout artists, but when they make contact, they crush the ball. Burke is in the bottom 15th percentile in strikeout rate while sitting in the bottom 10th percentile in expected ERA (5.91).
Pirates at Padres: NRFI (-124 at ProphetX)
The San Diego Padres began the season mashing the ball, but they have really fallen off lately. Over the last 15 days, they rank 28th in the majors with an OPS of .633.
They'll be at pitcher-friendly Petco Park tonight to host Mitch Keller and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Keller has looked sharp down the stretch, pitching to a 2.98 ERA with a 3.08 FIP over his last nine starts.
The Friars respond with Nick Pivetta, who sports a 2.72 ERA with an OBA of .192 through 10 starts. He'll stymie a Pirates lineup that is 27th in OPS (.644), with that number dipping to .610 on the road.
Yankees at Dodgers: YRFI (-117 at ProphetX)
The two best offenses in baseball face off at Dodger Stadium tonight, with the wind blowing towards the outfield at 10 mph.
The New York Yankees lead the majors in OPS (.809) and run first-inning rate (38.2%). The Los Angeles Dodgers are just behind the Yankees in both categories, boasting an OPS of .800 and plating a first-inning run in 37.5% of their games.
L.A. will send struggling righty Tony Gonsolin to the hill. He has an xERA of 4.74 through five starts and has pitched to a 5.40 ERA in the first frame.
Yankees starter Max Fried has been dominant this season, pitching to a 1.29 ERA. However, his expected ERA is significantly worse at 3.35, and the Dodgers do a great job of hitting lefties.
❓What are NRFI and YRFI bets❓
NRFI (No Run First Inning) and YRFI (Yes Run First Inning) bets add a thrilling twist to the start of an MLB game. A NRFI bet is a wager that no runs will be scored in the first inning. You're betting that the starting pitchers for both teams will get through the first inning without allowing any runs, whether by striking out batters, inducing ground balls, or through solid defensive play.
A YRFI bet is the exact opposite. You're betting that at least one run will be scored in the first inning. In this case, you’re hoping for an early offensive burst such as a leadoff walk, a timely hit, or even a home run.
NRFI and YRFI bets add excitement to the early part of a game and offer immediate gratification for bettors looking for a quick resolution.
