Online casino and sports betting company Stake announced on Monday its launch in Argentina, continuing the platform’s expansion in Latin America.

Calling itself the “world’s largest online casino and sportsbook,” the announcement revealed the platform will launch in the Buenos Aires Province, the country’s largest and most economically powerful province.

Key Takeaways

  • The launch means that Stake can offer odds to the country’s largest province for the World Cup.

  • Stake had an existing partnership with Argentinian soccer legend Sergio Agüero.

  • Customers can access Stake through a mobile-first platform.

Stake will join the Argentina market under the domain stake.bet.ar after it was granted a license by the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos.

The launch continues Stake’s recent expansion in Latin America, with odds now live in Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and Colombia.

“Argentina is an important market for us and a natural next step in our expansion across Latin America,” said Stake’s LatAm General Manager Diana Otalora.

With licensing secured, more than 17 million residents in the Buenos Aires province will be introduced to Stake’s sportsbook and casino offerings. The platform will operate a mobile-first platform that includes all of its usual attractions and offers geared toward Argentine users.

As the country’s largest province, Buenos Aires provides about one-third of Argentina’s national GDP. Argentina itself has the third-highest GDP in Latin America, making Buenos Aires a very affluent region, and a prime target for gambling companies.

“Argentina is a market with energy and identity and we’re excited to bring our world-class sportsbook and casino experience to players through stake.bet.ar,” Otalora said.

Stake joins Argentina ahead of World Cup

Stake’s Argentina launch comes less than one month after it took a “natural step” by launching in Mexico ahead of the World Cup. The tournament is expected to draw more than $50 billion in global betting volume, according to industry predictions.

Argentina enters as the defending World Cup champions after its successful journey to Qatar 2022 and is among the top favorites to hoist the trophy again. Most American sportsbooks have Argentina fifth in odds at about +1000.

“There is an incredibly passionate sporting culture [in Buenos Aires], a large and digitally engaged population and strong long-term potential for Stake,” said Otalora.

Stake also has a connection to the Buenos Aires market through the company’s existing partnership with Argentinian soccer legend Sergio Agüero, which began in 2022.

The announcement noted that Stake, launched in 2017, attracts more than 100 million monthly visits across its global profile. Its list of partners and sponsors includes Agüero, Drake, X Games, Everton Football Club, and UFC, among others.

World Cup ready to begin

Stake.bet.ar is already live and available for customers with odds in a variety of markets, such as the World Cup. Using a Stake bonus code can help new users unlock a variety of rewards.

The competition will begin in 10 days on Thursday, June 11. Argentina will play its first match on June 16 against Algeria before also taking on Austria and Jordan in the Group Stage.

The defending champions are aiming to make it back to the FIFA World Cup final, which will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
