Seahawks’ Week 3 Loss Eliminates Over 1,000 in Circa Survivor Contest

The bloodbath in the Circa Sports Survivor Contest continued on Sunday, with the Washington Commanders upsetting the Seattle Seahawks.

Seattle suffered its first loss of the season Sunday afternoon in Washington. The Seahawks never led, although they did tie the game 24-24 early in the fourth quarter. 

A 50-yard interception return by Kain Medrano in the final minutes gave Washington a commanding 33-24 lead.

The Seahawks then marched down the field to make it a 33-31 game just 66 seconds later, but Seattle couldn’t finish the comeback on a rainy afternoon in Washington. 

It was a tough loss for the Seahawks, and perhaps an even tougher loss for the more than 1,000 people who selected Seattle in the Circa Sports Survivor Contest.

With just 8,110 entrants remaining entering Sunday, over one-eighth of the field was eliminated by the Seahawks’ loss. This comes after losses by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Chargers decimated the field in Week 2. 

Entering the day, 12.9% of the remaining participants had the Seahawks winning as -8.5 road favorites, but it wasn’t meant to be.

The rest of the field

That’s good news for the nearly 4,400 participants who had the Chiefs in Week 3, as Kansas City took care of business as road favorites in Miami. Over half of the field advanced with that win. Detroit’s comeback win over the New York Jets kept 743 entrants alive as the third-most selected team this week. 

Other participants advancing on Sunday’s early slate included the 431 who selected the Buffalo Bills, while just over 100 entrants were eliminated by the Cincinnati Bengals’ loss in Pittsburgh. 

Not only did the Seahawks’ loss to the Commanders significantly alter the field in the Circa Survivor Contest, but it also cost some contestants in the Grandissimo as well. 

Only 30 entries remained entering Sunday’s action, and one-fifth of those had selected the Seahawks. Half of the field advanced with the Chiefs’ victory, while four participants sweated out that Lions comeback win over the Jets and three did the same with the Bills.

There were only 77 entries to begin the high-stakes contest, and that’s now down to just 24 after Week 3.
