Resorts World New York City has announced a new milestone for the Big Apple’s gaming industry after the casino awarded its first jackpot payout exceeding $1 million in the property’s history, after a local resident won the prize on a progressive slot machine.
Key Takeaways
- Resorts World New York City has announced its first ever $1 million jackpot win.
- The jackpot came from Aristocrat’s Million Dollar Dragon Link progressive slot.
- The win comes two weeks after the casino expanded its venue to include live-dealer table games.
The jackpot was won on May 14, with the player collecting $1,009,357.41 while playing the Aristocrat Million Dollar Dragon Link progressive slot machine. According to the operator, the payout was triggered during the game’s free spins bonus feature.
The winner, who works in Manhattan and requested anonymity, became the first player at the Queens property to receive a single jackpot payout above the $1 million mark.
The casino noted that the win occurred just over two weeks after the opening of what it described as the first commercial casino operation in New York City’s history.
The payout followed an expansion of gaming operations at Resorts World New York City, including the addition of new live-dealer tables. As well, it was one of three casinos to also be awarded one of New York’s downstate casino licenses, with Citi Field and Bally’s Bronx being the other two winners.

Resorts World NYC launches live table games
Resorts World New York City appears to be breaking milestone after milestone this year, after it also became the first casino in New York City to offer live-dealer table games.
The expanded gaming floor opened on April 28, and according to Resorts World, it included more than 240 live table games, featuring blackjack, craps, baccarat, and roulette, in addition to the thousands of slot machines already operating on site.
Resorts World has also said that the launch has been supported by a large-scale recruitment and training program. The casino hired 1,250 additional employees, including around 950 table game dealers, ahead of the opening, increasing the total workforce to approximately 2,200 employees, with further expansion expected during the next phase of development.
"Once the Gaming Commission's final testing is complete, live table games will be open and operating right here in Queens for the first time in the history of New York City. We are ready to welcome New Yorkers to this exciting new experience," said Robert DeSalvio earlier this year.
