In what's becoming an alarming trend for the Triple Crown, long shot Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo has been declared out of consideration in the Preakness Stakes odds.
Joining him on the sidelines will be Bob Baffert trainee and Pat Day Mile winner Crude Velocity, it was revealed on Friday. He was the Preakness future pool favorite.
Now speculation turns to who will be among the Preakness Stakes horses at Laurel Park on Saturday, May 16.

2026 Preakness Stakes field
Even with Golden Tempo and Crude Velocity out of the mix, along with the vast majority of Kentucky Derby participants, there's still a sizable field of around 12 on tap for the Preakness Stakes.
Derby scratches Silent Tactic and Great White are under consideration, per the Maryland Jockey Club, along with 12th-place finisher Potente, trained by Baffert.
Baffert is also expected to enter Cherokee Nation, sixth in the Santa Anita Derby.
