The 2025 PGA Tour heads to the North Star State this week for the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities with the FedExCup Playoffs right around the corner.

While this isn’t a particularly star-studded field with Sam Burns and Maverick McNealy atop the 3M Open odds lists, there are still several players who have my attention, including Chris Gotterup and Tony Finau who headline my top golf picks for the week.

Golf picks for the 3M Open 2025

  • Gotterup to win outright (+2800)
  • Finau to win outright (+4000)
  • Kitayama Top 30 (+120)
  • Fowler Top 40 (-115)
  • Homa Under 4.5 Round 1 birdies (+110)

3M Open outright picks

Outright pick: Chris Gotterup
+2800 at BetMGM

Chris Gotterup is peaking ahead of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

He’s coming off an impressive two-week run overseas and ranks second in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green across his past five events. This will also be his third career start at TPC Twin Cities, and he played the weekend in each of his first two stops.

With his ball-striking dialed in and confidence soaring, Gotterup is poised to take a serious run at a third PGA Tour win.

Outright pick: Tony Finau
+4000 at BetMGM

While Tony Finau didn’t finish strong at Royal Portrush, a return to TPC Twin Cities should be just what he needs to get back on track.

He won this event in 2022 and has made the cut in each of his six appearances, so his game is a clear course fit.

Finau also gained true strokes with the putter at The Open to finish 19th in the metric, and I’m expecting his ball-striking to bounce back this week.

3M Open prop picks

Finishing position pick: Kurt Kitayama Top 30
+120 at bet365

Kurt Kitayama is rounding into form with a T5 at the John Deere and a T14 at the Barracuda, and he’s a strong candidate to build on that momentum this week.

He finished T6 here last year while ranking second in true strokes gained tee-to-green and fifth on approach. The elite ball-striking hasn’t gone anywhere, either, with Kitayama respectively ranking third and fourth in the two metrics across his past seven tournaments dating back to the Byron Nelson.

Finishing position pick: Rickie Fowler Top 40
-115 at bet365

Rickie Fowler’s game is rounding back into form. He’s gained true strokes across the board through his past six events to rank fifth in this field in total strokes gained and 13th in tee-to-green play.

The improved play has also resulted in a solid T14 at The Open and T18 at the John Deere across his past two tournaments.

This will be Fowler’s third trip to TPC Twin Cities, too, and I’m anticipating him stringing together four solid rounds with valuable FedEx Cup Playoffs points up for grabs.

3M Open first-round pick

Round 1 pick: Max Homa Under 4.5 birdies
+110 at DraftKings

There have been signs from Max Homa, including his T5 at the John Deere Classic earlier this month. Still, his game is far from tight with ranks of 96th in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green and 85th in driving accuracy across his past nine events.

Homa also ranks 128th on the PGA Tour in birdie average and hasn’t played in this event since 2020. I'm not expecting five or more circles on the card for Homa on Thursday.
