Players are playing for contracts, endorsements, bonuses. Normally players are always going to play hard.  When it comes to tanking,  That's more from the executive side or general manager which talks with the coach and tells him or her hey switch these lineups up a little bit or don't play a player 38 minutes, play them 33 minutes or just mix up the lineups a little bit. But players normally are going to play hard.

You got the Odyssey Sims factor as well...(Imsoti8) Spoke on this earlier today in this forum... She was waived by Dallas and now plays for the LA Sparks. You know she's going to be motivated today.
