and btw i used to fall asleep watching the jazz too...kind of like watching the spurs for years....feel like they are more exciting now this year then they were for like the past ten years....could you imagine if david "the admiral"l robinson was younger when duncan came in the league...

I feel like if the spurs for years played a different style offense and had more athletic players...athletic like "dunking ability and stylish moves"...people would mention them more with the best teams ever.....i mean people still do but seriously one of the most consistent teams winning games with the same coach for ten years....i never liked the spurs but man i respect them and popovich...since 89-90 the spurs have had only one losing season and that was midseason that pop got hired...starting pops first full season...record goes as following
9 outta 15 years over 70 percent in win percentage.....worst season he had was 61 percent win percentage...2nd worst 64.6 win percentage....unreal...i mean its easy to forget this team was 50-16...last year

22 years and one losing season......pop turned a 20-62...team to a 56-26 team the next year...though tim duncan might have had something to with that his rookie year ...

yep, they the ultimate success story built on hard work and team unity melos...u do realise that in that period you talkin bout they are far and away the most successful american sporting franchise in any league rite???percentage-wise....but yea if you aint"sexy"you aint getting on magazine covers and on the news....also counts heavily against them that their most important players(and many of their other too)were not born in the u.s........anti-foreigner sentiment perhaps??

okc-9 and a half**.....and yeah melo i have to agree on the "hard work and team unity"....very team oriented, well coached, and every one knows their role on spurs teams..very unselfish basketball and work together defensively....great chemistry built over time...but then when role players between the big 3 have changed over time.. they all have fit in as good pieces because of that hard work and unselfishness..great play calling...its rare to ever hear a spurs player getting in trouble for anything....it's much like the patriots have built in the nfl.

    Hi Mavin,

Love this thread, great community spirit and good contributions from all.

In that vein, just a quick question:

Your NBA record is as follows: (17-6 ATS,  7-10 Totals)

Do you think you would be better as a purely ATS tipper or do you think that the Totals will come back in your favour?

    Keep up the good work.

OKC-9-Well to start its oklahoma city vs washington...do i really have to say more. No i'm jk. ..but in reality it is a 4-28 team vs a 26-7 team...worst record in NBA vs best record in NBA. But as we all know any team can win on any night in the NBA and were not looking for a win, were looking for a cover....I will elaborate on this game and all the others tomorrow afternoon/evening... If i start talking now i wont be able to stop...

yep melos no-one gets in trouble cos they hav an ethos were they pick great human beings first, great basketball players second...like the basketball is secondary.not many franchises anywere brave enuff to do that.
i remember reading in an article sumwere there is a big poster in spurs practice facility, sumthing along the lines of"tho it may take several thousand hammer blows over many hours to split a mighty stone,no one strike is more or less important than another(including the final strike that splits)as it cud not b done without each and every one"
its cool cos it speaks to the value of patience, persistence and team-work...kinda like this forum

    OKC+10.5
Lines moved in favor of OKC despite heavy oublic backing. Both teams coming from back to back so defense will be down most likely (according to sportsmavin). However, OKC is young team plus their game was at 1pm the other day so enough time for rest as compared to WAS. i expect OKC to play defense still. This game will be one of the easy road games in their upcoming 12 away out of 14, i dont expect them to waste this chance.

    Missed Suns last Friday

    1-1 in thread
    0-0 yesterday

    Todays pick:

Mavs @ Jazz: Pick Under 198

Mavericks come into Utah after dropping two consecutive games in OT. Mavs obviously have their half court threat back, Dirk, and it shows. They have been able to compete with MIA.... but still seem to fall short. Clearly Dirk isn't 100% but that shot is pure. Utah has a lengthy defensive unit which may force Dirk to alter his shot and if that one legged fadeaway isn't dropping all night, I think this game falls short of 198 total points. Dallas has only scored 100 four times in their last 10. Not terrible but let's take a look at those games. First is MIA... good defense when they are trying, however this game did go into OT. Still lots of points. The other being Washington who despite their terrible record, actually don't play AWFUL defense. Certainly not the worst in the league. Another game went over due to OT vs OKC (again, good when they give max effort) and Philly who was quite injured back when these two teams met.

I don't see the Mavs cracking 100. I do see them steadily feeding Dirk and slowing it down in the half court instead of Collison making things happen at a break neck speed.

Utah has only cracked 100 twice in their last 10. They play well at home. I think with the crowd they will ramp up the defensive pressure and force Dallas into taking forced shots.

Making this a 2 unit play. Leggo under 198.

    BOL to all.
