He won the 30k gambling.  I never followed the guy in football so don't know how he did it with such poor money management.

So how much do you bet a game? You can say "I would never lose that much" and so forth, but then obviously you're never going to win that much.  Guess just depends how much is a lot to you, and what your goals are.  A little extra spending money?

this is missing the point...his money management was probably fine(or at least markedly improved)before he came out to "live the dream"...it was obviously the pressure of having to win to make a living and not having any semblance of a plan or strategy that sent everything haywire.pressure can do that....its easy staying calm and relaxed if you have the security of knowing its not critical for you to turn a profit...and also more likely that if you DO take a shot you will hit as you are picking with a free mind.
this is just one aspect that makes it so hard being a professional gambler i wud imagine,keeping a clear outlook and staying even

I bet 50 a game. My bombs are 300-400. Rare plays. I get upset when I lose 50 bucks for about 10 min then I move on. And TSW I make 62k a yr right now so me gambling is just supplemental income. Shoe/tattoo money basically. It makes the games more exciting for me. When I go on my runs I cash in 2-3k which is cool. I enjoy betting because I love sports. No way in hell would I ever bet like CG did with my 25k. I know as a black man with a ton of tattoos to have 25k stacked up is very rare for a man in my position, so I appreciate it a lot. I dont have my mommy and daddy helping me out. I grinded hard for this 25k. And the way I see it, I'm never going broke because I'm very good with my money. CG is an idiot. A true degen who didn't know what he had.

He could have won all 10 games for 10k total. And still go broke. Only instead of lasting two months he would last 3 months. He could have perfect money management skills and be worse off. He should just hit rock bottom sooner so that he has more time to recoup. He's still young with no kids to feed. You don't want to learn this when you are 50 I tell you this much. All along he should just stick with football. Jumping from a strong sport to a weak one is hard to do. Jumping from 16 games a week to games every single day you better have some monthly cash flow. That is assuming you get residual income and controlled expenses. At least booze are free in vegas. Overcoming -110 in the long run with those percentages is dreaded man even if he didn't pay rent and booze are free. 

He's failed math. And there's just no room for that in his case.

Well one things for sure he wont be stealing any of yours.....CG decided to document his journey......In he beginning a lot of folks praised him for the updates, proof of plays and videos....Obviously a lot of people tuned in to see how this thing was going to play out......Anybody who says CG just "loves the attention" Or is an "attention person" are way off and likey lacking the attention he's getting......AND with all of the bashing he is getting Im sure he would like a lot less.

I say it isn't much because I lost 100's at the tables. Sports is what dug me out of deep holes. I was in deep several years back and never saw my paychecks. But what saved me and the level of hours and work I put towards handicapping and being able to apply it to a high percentage plays over and over. The last 34 weeks of football excluding playoffs , I have only had 5 losing weeks. Sure at times I lost big on one week but because my percentages were so high I was confident that I can over play my bankroll with very little risk. You can easily work middles in football. But you can't do that on the tables. See in football there's very little variance because the way the points are scored in 3 and 7 increments. Not only that. My biggest plays hit above 85%. In the superbowl I am 4-4. I bet no less than 10k in the sb. All this adds up. Most of the time I'm only laying -107.5 or so too. I'm to the point. Lets just say. I own football. And now I'm moving on to basketball. The design of my model for bball is about 75% complete and back tested. But I will be planning for the next nba season to use it. Bbal requires a lot more time. If I spend about 10 hours per day over the summer I should be able to finish it. It's alot more simple than football and it has to be because there's no time. And once I have the model upto speed then I have a baseline number to work with and so far it's really strong for totals and road and away teams. However picking teams is a lot harder and you really need to watch a lot of games and apply it ats. It's like two different worlds that co exist. I couldn't tell you how many times this year there would be like 8-10 games and I bet under on all of them and hit them all. But there's never a time I would bet all favorites or dogs. Slowly I'm weighing how much to put on which play. The work is just never ending. But I know even with a small edge for basket ball. If played optimally you can make lot of money with very little money because there's so many games.

All handicapping really is simply put,, is being able to measure, estimate, capture and repeat. Basketball is harder because its high variance. So when cg dropping bombs , variance will wipe him out quick. Steph curry will wipe him out. He's shooting from damn near mid court. But you don't see people dropping 90 yard football bombs. You see this difference?

No hard feelings Holding. I just think it sounded crazy when you said a 28k loss wasnt a lot lol. Sounds like you've been thru a lot with gambling. GL in the future bro.

Basketball is like high frequency trading. Football is more like investing. So my approach given my situation is bet small in basketball but play more games. In football be ultra sharp and play big.

We all know he would not be  in a different boat if he just listened to your last 3 plays.....If all 3 were winners that means he would still be in the same boat but that boat would be sailing a little slower beore it hit the storm....My question is if he is still not following your bank roll and substance abuse advice why the hell are you throwing him games to bet and then getting pissed when he ignores you and dosent play them?????? Let it go Ron, or dont, maybe thats your thing, if he would have played your bets then maybe you feel his journey (This thread) will live longer and you may still yet convince him to listen to you.

I agree he will likely be in for a tough month or 2 after its over but the kid accumulated 30K and once he gets over the fact he lost it theres no reason he would not be able to get another good job and get back on his feet.....Life lesson....We live and learn........Although this was a failure for him, I hope he had some real good times and can at least take those memories back with him.

Guys,
Got a funny story. Years ago went out to Vegas with brother and his friends.
One guy was amazing because every play or run at a table he had seemed to lose.
They called the guy "The jersey jinx".
Well one day. We're in Casino and all decide to play craps. We all bought in and I played the DONT. Needless to say half an hour later they were all bust and I had a rack of chips! True story!!
CG, you are the Jersey Jink!!! Stop gambling!!!
