Sorry about your grandfather.
If his death impacted you as much as you suggest, taking time off from betting might be a good idea. Tough to focus when distracted.
Throwing a hail mary is certainly not a good idea.
BUT if you decide to go all ted kaczynski and lose, you should
seriously consider moving back to NJ in honor of your grandfather.

Just trying to understand what exactly is going on with this selection. You have all the information you gathered about the NCAA baskets this year...I just do not have the impression that you have been following hockey much less that it is one of your stronger sports.

CG I assume you watch the games you bet. I know for a fact that the 5% that win for a living do not. But as far as watching a game Hockey is much funner to watch than an NBA game.
CG do you watch the games you bet? I brought this up before and polled people on Covers. My big question was can you watch a game if you had no action on.

This is page 105. Why are people still thinking that login and reasoning have any place in this thread?Think about tonight's 'professional handicapping' thought process...
1. Whoever I bet against scores lots of points like Dallas last night in NBA.
2. Red is my favourite color. Whose jerseys are red? Ottawa's... I like red. I like Ottawa.
3. Using rule 1, Ottawa's opponent will score lots. I still like red. Ottawa should win 12-7.
Therefore, bet over 5.5
If you think that was a joke, I guarantee it is not far off from the decision making process of an alcoholic, drug using bipolar individual.

Tonight's goalies:
TB 2.37 GAA
Ottawa 1.85 GAA
2.37+1.85=4.22
And you need 6 goals to win an over 5.5...in a game where both teams are happy to coast to OT so each picks up a point in the playoff picture.
I am amazed after reading a few of these 400+ pages that you haven't lost the 30k you went out there with. That's the most impressive part of this whole thing. Congratulations.

Bomb play upcoming on final four. Have to decide on a bomb on wiscy or two mini bombs on wiscy and Sparty. I have this thing all planned out. If I lose a bomb on wiscy or two mini bombs if I go that route the I'll be down to like 8K after throwing some cash in my checking and with baseball coming I'll go to the $200 or so grind daily. I think I'm going to deliver on a bomb (s) tho on the final four. CG loves BOMB plays

am not even joking when i tell you this. If you bet tonights game over because last 6 of 7 went over, then you shouldnt make another bet the rest of your life. If gambling was as easy as looking at some silly stat like that and betting a 1000 bucks on it, then we would all be very rich and there would be no bookies around to take our bets.
did you look up how these teams score before the last 7 games? doubt it. Also why would you bet a sport that you only bet 5 times in your life and especially when theres only a few more games left in the season. You dont know how motivated either team would be, this late in season.

For the tenth god damnn time the senators have played 6 out of 7 overs and the lightning are the number one scoring team. If I had took the under u guys would be saying how could u go against a hot over team in Ottawa and the number one scoring team in the nhl.... One hockey bets it's done... Won't bet hockey again I agree, sadly I liked the senators to win. Hoping Miami covers now bc I like Stanford -3 and don't feel as dumb

First off, he's an action junkie (not a professional) like the 95% you mentioned. So I sure as hell wasn't expecting any different than he has currently been doing.
My comments were more directed towards BEFORE he went on his downward spiral. Even back when he first started and he had some success, he had no interest taking advice from anyone. He had no idea the proper amounts he should be betting relative to his bankroll. Just like his "capping", he was throwing darts and hoping they stuck. When others offered him advice on strategies (non capping strategies) he had absolutely no interest. He entertained the concepts, but eventually would change the subject to "team A beats team B tonight" and the topic was lost. Him entertaining the concepts has gone to full out "I will not take advice" and that's fine.
But there has never been a plan, there has simply been an action junkie hoping to win some money. Nothing more, nothing less.
It's like willful death by 1,000 papercuts that we're all forced to watch in part.
We desperately want to help, because we know blood loss will lead to his inevitable demise.
But ultimately, we know we should stay quiet because he's charted a course clealry not to be reversed.
Still, we want to supply him a last gasp before it all bottoms out.
