Serena was literally a cheat code in women's tennis. If there was ever as close to a sure bet when it came to betting in female tennis, it was Serena. Will we ever see another player as dominate as her on the female circuit?

Serena was manlike on the tennis court...she could've beat most of the men on tour as well.
We will see another one like her. The same comments were made about Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, but here comes Sinner and Alcaraz. Sports are cyclical, especially tennis, so you enjoy it while you can because these are the AI's of the tennis world. It will happen, in our lifetime or the next. Serve and volley and on to the next.

@ABooksNightmare
thats some utter bullshit, beat most of men on tour lol. Serena would lose 100% to all men on tour, probably lose to anyone ranked above 500th.

Notice how I never mentioned anything about rank
Tour could be about 2,000 athletes or so...that means most would be about 999 and above...I say she has a chance in her prime.
Both Serena and Venus lost to about a 200th ranked male tennis player when they were teenagers, however if you think that Serena could not beat the worst ,ale tennis players on tour I would say hogwash. In your video she mentions Andy Murray but that's Murray not some random male player ranked almost 2,000.
And you pull a completely and utterly random video
The fact is no one will know because it did not happen, but what we do know is that Serena was a dominant female player and may be better than the worst male player on tour. I would have liked to see it as that would have been something. The fact of the matter is that is totally opinionated on both sides, so don't come in here calling bullshit to something that either you or I don't know because there are no facts to support it. What a meathead.

I don't think we will see it in our lifetime - but comparing her to male opponents is insane - top100 males would at most lose a game to her if they faced her in her prime - the male players are SO much stronger and faster than the female counterparts it isn't even funny - versus top 10 males - I don't even think she would win a point -- the males would feel they played in slow motion - and Serena would face serves and strokes that were almost double the usual speed ! If we talk male players on Future level - she might have a chance for a set

Serena herself is on record to saying that she wouldn't beat any male counterpart on tour. That is why they have a men's and a woman's division. I agree it is insane to say she could beat most of the men on tour.

@ABooksNightmare
"most" would suggest 80% or more, since when most = 50% of the field?? Anyway, it's just absurd to suggest she'd beaten "most" of the guys on tour by your definition, I'd put my money on anyone ranked 1000th vs her. There's just no comparison between male and female in sports, even serena herself said in interview that male tennis is a different sports than WTA.

It's called hypothetical
No one can say for certainty one way or the other because it cannot and was not tested
Serena was compared to a man by different people in both strength, statute and physique
All being said here is opinion based
Pretty sure she could beat tank
Good luck with your opinion...

I'd have to go against this bet. I've watched quite a few players around the 1000th ranked area. Some of them are absolutely horrendous.

Anything around 500, Serena isn't winning anything. I don't even know why that is up for discussion. Around 1000 I say she'd be able to pull off some wins here and there.

Casper Ruud did have a tough time getting returns in play against Sara Errani's 12mph serve so anything is possible lol
Jokes aside, Serena was a generational talent and we may not see another like her in our lifetime. Maybe our kids or grandkids will when all the players are AI holograms.

I think in mixed double there is an unwritten agreement between the guys they don’t just use their power to overwhelm the women (also how many would watch it if not) - and if anything I would think they had a harder time versus someone like Errani rather than Serena - as she for good or worse would be closer to what they normally face - Errani is balls with spin etc - where Serena’s primary selling point were just brute force - I couldn’t see her win versus any guy that had played tennis for over 5 years

Because Boys have always dominate pro women sports in history when they actually matched up for exhibition or whatever, in all sports. Go check yourself, how many times US Women soccer team got dominated by high schooler?? There's just no comparison for women and men in sports, it's a different sports and should be treated as such. You are one of those guys that would think a dominant Alabama college football team stand a chance vs the worst NFL team, lol.

serena might would win a few games off of the ranked 600 guy, against the ranked 500 guy she might get double bageled. this mindset is the same that says Saban's Alabama teams would beat top NFL teams, when in actuality they'd get killed by the worst NFL teams.

We're not talking about all sports
We're talking about tennis, which in this case is a singular sport, for purposes of my comment, for one on one. If you want to talk about teams, then you may be in the wrong thread.
Serena had extreme power for a woman athlete. Her arms and leg muscles may have been bigger than many men. She also possessed a skill of the game unlike no other woman in our lifetime between the ages of 20-35.
I am forming an opinion just as you are. Point is, none of will ever know how she would have fared against the majority of the ATP because it never happened. I am saying that I think she has a very good chance at beating a good majority of those players. Top ranked, no, certainly not, but 1000 and above and would think she would have a very good record. Some of those players at that level are mush. Serena was no mush. I give her a fighting chance. She had the physique of a man, which gave her a distinct advantage at the women's level. She was not a normal female tennis player in that regard. Whatever it was she did to prime herself into that specimen of a player, kudos to her. Her legacy will continue for some time before it is ever achieved again.

@Calde13
Yeah the reason he struggled to return against Errani was exactly that. He probably hasn't seen a serve like that since he was a kid so a lot of the returns landed 3 feet out wide because he started his swing too early. Plus while he's waiting all day for the ball to arrive Vavassori is up at the net doing the cha cha slide which has to be nerve-racking.

Apparently Kyrgios and Sabalenka are planning some kind of new battle of the sexes match at the beginning of next year. But Nick only gets one serve and the side of the court that Sabs is defending will be slightly smaller than his.

But is it really opinions ? Williams hardest recorded serve ever is 128 mph - that is just slightly faster than an average male serve - she wouldn’t even be able to return a serve - so in best case scenario she could maybe hold a game or two herself - and even that would be pushing it - there is a reason she declined playing a male - here is a snippet how interesting that match would be to watch:
