Fils doesn’t like these conditions in Dubai. Last year, he lost in the first round 6-2, 6-1 against Borgers. He is coming off a great week in Doha, where he reached the final, so that’s a lot of matches, and the conditions here are very different.

There is also Indian Wells and Miami around the corner, where he reached the QF in both, so he has lots of points to defend.

I can’t see him wasting any energy here, he will be on a flight to the US tomorrow.

A rematch just a week later also favors the loser in the first matchup, this match ticks a lot of boxes for me.

His now favorite on my book, you still have + odds?

Don't think I would fade them because of it, but now value to back them right before the Sunshine Double in my opinion. 

But I see value on Walton but no  play.

Putintseva what a fixer lol..up 4-2  40-0 and loses her next 9 serving points 4-6.

She played jimenez who is now going to play double after Stephens Sloane withdraw.

It's going to be an easy 2-0 win for Bucsa C / Jiang X  don't have a under line at my bookie, but this won't last much longer than an hour this match. 

Also Bhosale, Ninomiya is good value. 

The way Putintseva just played, no way she wants to stay long here in Mexico. 

This was her first her second match in her career in south America (!) since 2009, she played once in Mexico in 2022 also, since than she has never played in south America, crazy stat.  

Last time she won a double match was on grass in June last year. 

Bucsa C / Jiang X  

It started very good wining first set 6-1, but only won it in 3.

Unfortunately Putintseva and Pop withdraw their double after tanking their single.

Looks like a lot of players tanking their matches to get out of Mexico, someone to keep an eye on.

Damn I still have the double pending Piter/tjen & Bucsa/Jiang (against Stephens/sanchez). What to do with it?

Great spot for Borges here, very slow conditions, and it’s a 500 event the week before the 1000 event in Indian Wells, which is what the top players are focused on instead.

He has already played doubles here, which he won in straight sets as the underdog.

We’ve already seen a lot of people leaving Mexico early, and the US is advising people not to travel to Mexico at the moment.

Borges can play really well on a good day, he beat Felix in the Australian Open, and last year he beat Ruud at the French Open, so he already has a couple of top-10 wins in the last year.

Tiafoe is 6-7 at this event, and reaching the quarterfinal in 2023 is his best result. He didn’t perform well last year in Indian Wells or Miami, with early exits in both, so I think his focus is there, as there are lots of points to gain.
