The odds on this match are ridiculous. Yes, Kessler was horrible in her last match but at least that was against Pegula and obviously some nerves involved. Pav has a single match win since Wimbledon and has looked awful nearly every time she's stepped on court in that timeframe. She lucked out with a main draw spot here before her AO points from last year fall off and after this week she'll be outside the top 100 with a lot of work to do before she's consistently playing at this level again.

Yeah she has been struggling for the better part of a year now but it seems to be getting worse since Australia adopted her. Losing to Simona Waltert on a hard court might be a new low.
They said on the broadcast last night that she is enjoying the laid back Aussie lifestyle but her tennis game obviously isn't enjoying that. She used to be the 500 queen and would vulture one or two year to keep her always flirting with the top 10 but those days are long gone. And I'm not sure how much she actually cares either or if she's more focused on her vlog and personal life at this point.

This Selekhmeteva loss is tough to swallow. She had match points on return and then on her serve in the second set but couldn't convert. Then had another chance to serve it out and couldn't do it.

PSA: Ashlyn Krueger is completely unbetable again. I thought maybe she had turned the corner after breaking Bejlek in Melbourne and a decent performance against Keys but I was obviously wrong. The worst part is that last night was purely a complete mental meltdown. She had one thing go wrong for her in the first set and she just completely gave up. It literally looked like she was doing whatever she could just to end the match asap. It was disgusting but I did make some money back live betting against her at the end.
