this is hilarious... I am a big time gamer who spends at least 15-20 hours a week gaming and i have never seen so much obvious bullshit precede the release of a console like the WII. I have tested it and found it mildly amusing for the first 10 minutes. After that, it quickly becomes very very boring and tiresome.

 

I can play video games for stretches of 1-4 hours straight, there will never ever be a a game i would waste my 4 hours one flailing my arms with that idiotic contraption for the Wii.

 

Tell yourself what you want, but you know the truth. That gadget really becomes tiresome in less than 20 minutes even for the most hardcore gamer.

 

And  what is it with you nintendo fanboys? You take the meaning of the word geek to the extreme. I still cant imagine what grown man still brags about playing mind numblingly dull childish immature shit like zelda or mario cart..(I believe those are the only two games nintendo has, )

Ps...My 500 hundo is ready and waiting for the PS3 and the mature games for progressive adults who enjoy diversity and the freedom provided by such consoles. (Not a huge fan of 360 but i give it a passing grade )

I'm no loyal nintendo fan. I'm not loyal to any brand. The last nintendo system I ever owned was a SNES (and i still own it.) Personally I love my PC games. But consoles are great as well. I own a ps2 and xbox. I play everything from NHL 07 to Metal Gear Solid to fucking Tetris. I spend about 3-5 hours a week on my video games.

 

The Wii will more than likely be a great bang for your buck deal. And the PS3? Sounds like it's going to be the complete opposite. The PS3 could be a huge failure for the already hurting Sony. I hope it doesn't hurt them too much, the more competition the better.

 

As for the whole mind numblingly dull childish immature shit like zelda comment. I hope you feel all grown up with your adult themed games.But a good game is a good game. The Zelda series is one of the greats. You can't argue with numbers.

 

Calling yourself an experienced gamer and you pick what console you like best before you've even used it?

I said i tested the silly nintendo and i found it to be amusing for only the first 10 minutes until it occured to me that the WII on the surface looks like a smart concept until you figure that if that silly thing is applied to any of the games off your pc, xbox, ps3 or even the nintendo itself, its totally impracticle and absurd.

Sure if it looks cool all the better. But if that game has good controls, is innovative, and is a good challenge, then odds are I'm going to play it. 20 hours a week on video games? I consider myself a geek as I'm pretty heavy into the IT industry. But 20 hours a week? That's a part time job! I have more important shit to do. Get a girlfriend, kid. Or a life outside the house at least. I don't need to hear some sheltered scurvy ridden dork telling me that Nintendo is small time. No shit. One thing should be pointed out about nintendo. They actually MADE MONEY off the Gamecube. Which is more than Microsoft or Sony can say about their systems. The Dreamcast for example. It was a great console. Can't say much bad about it. But Sega lost the marketing war and the money ran out. Not that this is likely to happen to Microsoft, but Sony better straighten up and get smart or they'll be out of video game industry. Charging 500 bucks isn't the best way to get people to buy your console. Especially when It's costing Sony more to manufacture the damn things.

 

As I said above. I'm not loyal to any specific company. But while the Xbox 360 and PS3 are so damn pricey, look for the WII to pick up people not willing to pay so much. Especially since PC's are getting cheaper all the time.

folks, this idiot is actually comparing Sony, a company that had decided to  take a huge loss by selling the

Ps3 at 500. A price even he himself has said is much lower than the true cost of the unit. But he is excited  on the other hand by a company selling a shitty little box, that actually makes nintendo money out of the box. Nintendo simply removed all options that would have increased the price of their product and actually cut corners to produce  a sub par unit with technology that will be probably be absolete in under a year or two when compared to xbox360 or the ps3.

 

Only a stupid ass consumer would get excited because the company he is buying a product from is actually making a profit while selling him  an inferior product....(And people say i diss folks alot of this forum..If that isnt the very picture of a retarded dumbass then i dont know what is)

 

 

I on the other hand, i am excited about buying a super computing game machine  at a mere fraction of the actual cost of the machine, that will serve me , and grow by leaps and bounds over the next 5 years while these silly nintendo WII's will have reached the maximum output that still cant even compare to half the power of the Xbox or the PS3.....

Its amazing how myopic retarded people are. We even have history that one can use to foretell the future of this stupid experiment called the Wii, but this moron wants us to quickly forget the numerous bombs nintendo has unleashed on their unsuspecting consumers..

 

Nintendo's fan base is kids.  That's the bottom line.  And they keep thier products priced where almost every kid can actually get one under the tree. They are not even fighting for the same base that the X-Box and the Playstation are jockeying for. As long as they hit thier internal numbers they will be satisfied.

 

Even though the PS3 is much better with thier engine, software and hardware. Thier base is going to be the 20 something year olds that have saved every penny from thier job to buy this thing.  Also some of the upper middle class homes that will put one under the tree.  Not a big percentage though.  

 

They are taking about a $300 bite on each system.  They real cost of this system is the DDR memory. No kiddies that's not the Dance game.  Also the Cell processor isn't cheap.  The Video chip is made by Nvidia. It cost Sony about $130 for those.  And that is one hell of a bulk buy.  FYI, the Xbox 360 uses video chips by rival maker ATI. How bout that.

Because sony's current market share overall by far out weighs that of Nintendo so much so that its not even debatable.  Nintendo is not even on the same planet with sony in that category.

 

About the "upper middle class" of America,  there is no debate here either. Upper middle class of america will not be caught dead arguing over a 500$ computer..(no way in hell). (These are homes that have easily 300k or more a year in income. 500  bucks going towards a new powerful game that doubles as a new blue ray player is not rocket science. They will spring for the product that actually gives them the most for their buck...(being that almost all middle upper class households already have HD)

 

I have forgotten the real numbers but i think you are a little bit off on that figure. Sony is swallowing a much bigger bite that 300% a system. (Have you seen what either hd-dvd or blu-ray players alone are selling for on the open market?)

That's the last figure I got from my buddies at Nvidia.  They caught a hell of a break on the Blu units. . Also the parts are getting cheaper with every order that Sony makes.  But I can check on an updated Sony cost on Monday.  I can get an actual,  close cost,  Well within 5% or so.
