Martingale vs. Flat betting -- Supereagle vs. dj_destroyer

Premise: To objectively test two cappers and their respective methods.
Objective: To reach $5000 first.
Rules: Starting bankroll is $1600, no limit on plays per day, however there is a max wager of $800 per play. All plays are legit (RL, ML, props, futures, parlays, etc.). Every play MUST have a price and unit amount attached to it so that everything is counted down to the penny. also, the plays must be made at least 30 mins prior to game time to allow tailers to tail. FYI, I use Pinnacle for all my plays and I believe supereagle uses an exchange.

Eagle, you can continue to post your plays in your old thread, in here, or in both. I'll keep a tally in here though.

Nothing like a nice little competition to spice things up.

DJ it looks like your going to track units in your post.  However you both haven't stated your unit values, doesn't this seem point less.  Why not just show your current balance of $1600 and add or subtract the daily dollar results in order to keep a current balance until one of you reach $5000.  That is the point of this right...the first to $5000 and the max bet is $800.

I will not be posting my plays prior to game time because I have people who are paying for the picks.  We need to get that straight up front.  If you agree to this we start tonight.

Ya ya... fine, just make sure to update the count every so often in this thread. And the tally says units but it will be in dollars once we get underway.

Been outside all day, and going back out to play some washers and ping pong here again now.. but had to post my thread before game time, and happened to see this..

This thread is titled wrong. I like the idea of the competition, but it should NOT be starting tonight.. something like this needs to have a list of ground rules and be mapped out well. Otherwise there will be problems and disputes and a big shouting match will ensue.. Someone should also be appointed to oversee the validity of this. Like.. emailing, or private messaging your picks to someone.

Picks should not have to be posted prior to game time, but should be posted within 5 minutes of the game start time. Eagle seems to have been doing this in his thread rather nicely. For days when you can't be online to post 5 minutes after the game starts, that's why you should have someone to send the picks too.

Also, I said this thread is titled wrong.. This is not a Flat Betting vs. Martingale, it is Unit Betting vs. Martingale. Flat Betting is when you bet the exact same for all your plays. When you bet $50 on some plays, $100, on some others, and $500 on yet others, that is Unit Betting, NOT Flat Betting.

So please don't start this tonight, otherwise problems will come up, and you know it. If you really want to do this right, then do it right.

Rules don't matter for me... it's a race to $5000 -- by any means possible. As long as you're posting your plays' units and prices, we should be ok. If you can't make plays for a certain day than we will consider it is done out of choice. I'm not going to cheat and neither will supereagle (considering he has paying members validating him), we're just having a good ol' fashion gentleman's competition.

Its gonna make me sick if you go $800 a game and roll out 6 wins in a row.lol  I wish you would quit insinuating that I am a crook.  I would be truthful with the picks even if I didnt have paying members.  Im not mad at you for standing up for what you think is right, but I do wish you would stop with that "crooked supereagle" stuff.

hey dj i like the idea but ur whole arguement was that bettin martingale over a long period wont work... but if u bet at different amounts then isnt that the same thing... also ur gona reach $5000 b4 him cause ur doing mutilpe bets at all different prices... to me 4 this to b a real competition u should also bet 2 games a day lik him but as a flat bet to show that its better then martingale

Kreature, earlier in the thread we agreed his max bet would be $800.  Also, sometimes I do more than 2 bets a day for GA.

Tonights plays are Twins and Padres for me.  Ill give the numbers when I get freed up.

And DJ has clearly all ready taken advantage of this as he has not listed his wager amount next to his Texas -2.5 pick tonight, nor his Reds -2, which has all ready started..

I'm not going to double up or anything... I am betting money on this by the way... $1500 is skittles. I'll try and turn it into $5k and let all watch me succeed or fail, I don't mind. I believe in money management and I vary bet sizes. I know this isn't an exact experiment.. in that case, we would use the exact same picks; this is just for fun to settle an agreement.

Those Rangers/Reds RL's are only $20 each... I'm way more selective with my real plays... I usually bet a grand or two on something I really like (about once a week or so). I bet day-to-day because I'm degenerate and I like the action.  This will just keep track of it. Like it or leave it.
