I just want to make a quick mention here..
We're going to be adding a couple of new tools to our workshop here come the first of July.
First, we will be augmenting the sensational
Runline Blitz System into the
Criss-Cross Blitz (refer to discussion started in page 10 post #229, #230 for this). I have enough information in place now to justify this move. This should add an additional +2 to +5 Units per month for us. Doesn't seem like a lot, but a Unit is a Unit, and we're not interested in leaving them on the table when we decide to walk away from the Season. The spreadsheet will go through a transformation to accommodate this, so no one will have to worry about keeping up with the changes; it'll be a smooth transition.
Second, we've seen enough season data now to warrant a play on the worst team in baseball. This was up in the air until now, as several teams were in contention for this dubious honor, including Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Baltimore and Houston.
Our choice this season, are the Baltimore Orioles. I've analyzed the remainder of the schedule and it doesn't look like poor Baltimore is going to win many games the rest of the way. I thought Pittsburgh was going to get this honor when the Season began, and altho they are only 3 games better than the Orioles right now, I see spots of success along the way for them.
For those who were here last year, you might remember I did this with the Washington Nationals. They were talked about as possibly being the worst team in MLB History. They made great fade material and we made a good chunk of Units along the way. The System was simply called Fading Washington Nationals , which you can view by clicking there. It started June 5th and was up +38 Units by the end of July. We gave some back in August, but it was another good learning tool in the end.
Well this season, the Baltimore Orioles actually have a
worse record than Washington did at this time last year. Starting July 2nd,
Fading Baltimore Orioles will begin. There will be a spreadsheet created for this, similar to last season's Washington one. I encourage anyone interested in this, to view last year's Washington spreadsheet and become a little familiar with how I played things. Like any good System, there are Filters which will be in place.
Baltimore has 16 series remaining until the end of August. I would normally say that is where we will stop, but going over September's schedule shows nothing but a steady diet of divisional games with Boston, New York, Tampa Bay and Toronto, along with a couple of series with Detroit. All of these teams could very well still be competing for playoff positions down the stretch (altho I expect Toronto to fall back, eventually). If this is the case, I can't see the Orioles sweeping any of those series. That's 26 series in total.
As anything else, you should never start blindly following someone's plays without understanding 100% how it works, and why you're playing. I'll be setting a goal of an additional +30 Units from this, altho I will honestly be expecting closer to +45. Depending on how the other Systems are going will determine how much we want to have in play for this.
I noticed someone started a thread mentioning fading Baltimore, but I never saw anything followed through with it. Whoever did that can continue with whatever they started there, as I'm sure it will be nothing like how I plan on doing my own.
So, once again, you should check out the Fading Washington Nationals thread from last year to familiarize yourself a bit with how this will work, and decide if you want to get involved.
FADING WASHINGTON NATIONALS
So as you can see, we have a busy Summer coming up, to continue building on our all ready successful Spring. My favorite 2 months begin in just a few days, and you can bet we'll be ready.
Any questions, comments, or concerns should be discussed at any point they arise. There are no stupid questions, and as always, I will either answer your question here or point you to the spot in the spreadsheets where you can find your answer.Cheers
