TOURNAMENT: 44-15 (BIG PLAY: 15-4)
Such a good day yesterday and I was able to come home filled with Shoju and Korean bbq after having had a really sensational speaking engagement. So things are pretty solid on my end other than I would have made Jonathan David anytime scorer a big play had I not been away from my computer and positing via my phone (hard to do adequate research that way).
Today we have the first game of the day which pits the United States against Australia, a team we have consistently beaten on home soil. But the stakes are much higher now and with Australia having just beaten Turkey, whom many favored to win the group, the USA should be alert to avoid the same from happening.
Now...please. You saw how much the home crowd meant to the other hosts who played yesterday (Canada and Mexico) and the USA is really great playing in Seattle perennially (won SEVEN straight matches on that field). If I lose on this game that's fine, call it a homer play, but ZERO shot I'm taking Australia in any capacity today. Moreover, the winner of this game will all but win the group which is important b/c it's much better to play a 3rd place team in the knockouts than another top squad. Oh, and you will get to rest players in the third game so that you have a fully healthy squad.
The odds aren't super interesting here but there is always a winning side, you just have to find it.
YES BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE (AUSTRALIA/USA) -110...BIG PLAY!!!: Consider this, eight of the USA’s last nine games saw both teams score and most of those games went OVER 2.5 goals. I would rather watch with amazement if the USA was able to score 3 goals and get the over on their own but also bearing in mind that I think the USA wins this game and eight of Australia’s last ten losses were by a one-goal margin.
USA (-160): NO IDEA why this line is dropping I'd imagine it's a global game so maybe money coming in against the USA from other countries but I'm not sure you will see the USA on the wrong side of the final score. It's possible, just not probable.
CHRISTIAN PULISIC ANYTIME GOALSCORER (+175): IF he starts and plays, which he will, these are just crazy odds. Only hiccup might be the calf issue which might limit how long he's on the field. But if there is a penalty, he's usually the one to take it and he has every bit the opportunity to score today if the USA does.
LET ME PLEASE STATE...I'm willing to take a bath on this game partly because I am also American and a bit biased. BUT, these are truly the plays I think carry value given the venue the game is being played and the way in which both of these teams play. I do fear a 0-0 result which would crush all of these bets so might hedge a bit and take that as a final result at +1200.
I will surely be back later but for now, tail or fade, good luck to all...
