WORLD CUP TODAY PLAYS (6/17)

TOURNAMENT:  29-7 (BIG PLAY: 10-2)

Been a good start to the tournament,, would like to keep things going.  I have come into the forum and posted soccer plays for years and have seemingly done great doing so but there are just so few people on here that check out the threads and the times of the games in Europe make it hard to do so ongoing.  But with the Cup played in the USA, the time zones are generous to me for once and we continue to stack.

Today's game is not as cut and dry as I would like to imagine it would be.  Portugal have not been fast starters at the World Cup as they’ve won just one of their last four World Cup openers (D2, L1), the last three of which have produced 15 total goals, five of which came in their only victory therein over another African side, Ghana, in 2022 (3-2).  Given how some of the other top European sides have come out against similar African opponents, taking DR Congo lightly would not be smart for the Portuguese.

But they are amongst some of the favorites to lift the trophy even though they appeared in the semi-finals only once since 1966.  That's not good and they have had a wealth of talent to get past that stage.  I think they will surely progress past the group stage but they might have a tough time again against a really solid African side.  

Alas, DR Congo are worried about things much bigger than soccer, namely an Ebola virus spread that is sweeping their country.  From my experience, when things like this happen, it's more a distraction than anything.  I do not see any scenario in which they win today.

I'm going to be a bit more careful with this game but I do like the Portuguese to come out on top and there is no value in taking them for the game.  I will hope this will be one of the few early games to get a FH goal and Portugal has been pretty solid in the FH of games.  If they do NOT score in the FH, I will slam Portugal full game at the half.  But for now...

There's ONE!!!  Put it this way, if Portugal doesn't win the FH then we have at least 2 goals towards the over.

Hope we can keep this going I'm sure there are other guys who are doing well I'm trying to find value in plays though b/c so many at this stage are lay-ups and while those seem easy, as we all have seen and experienced, layups are also often missed (at least when I need them made b/c I've bet on an NBA or CBB game lol).

Exciting day just bought another home and got $20M investment into my newest project.

And yet I'm still here burning time and posting lol.  Be back in a bit.

Snake bitten.  TBH the miracle last night was worth so much more than this but sucks to lose on last play of half.  Like I said, at least we are looking pretty solid on the OVER so maybe at worst split and lose a few cents on the juice.

Really sorry guys, went to the last second, and Portugal as they seem to always do disappointed us.  I'll make it up and taking a look at Portugal HT but not sure the value in that.  Congo is playing like I thought they would, free with nothing to lose.  But was expecting any goal they scored to come in 2nd half.  

Anyways, moving on, will post England shortly.  Sucks.

Should we slam Portugal 2H?

No.  I wouldnt' and won't.  They look like the typical Portugal team that disappoints their first game out.  Maybe they wont, but then I'll get the OVER.  Not going to lose any more on this game since I really don't like Portugal personally.

COLOMBIA FH (-115) though England Draw/No bet is a certainty but very highly juiced in case you don't want to wait until later.

While we wait for the end of the Portugal game (or should I say the DR Congo game), I am going to post my thoughts on England.

I see little to no way that England does not win or draw, at worst.  They have consistently been on the right side of the results when they play Croatia and they’ve lost only one of their last eight opening matches at a World Cup (W4, D3).  So I can't see them totally putting up a doughnut though they also seem to not score much.  They are obviously loaded and Croatia, who were great during WC qualifying, have not been quite as great leading up to this game.

Croatia on the other hand won only one of their last five World Cup openers (D1, L3) so that too is not a great omen playing against a team that will be very hungry to get off on the right foot.  I personally think the will be a lower scoring game but I don't feel comfortable enough taking a total.  

I have a boost for a "Drawbreaker" from DK which means if you take a team, and they draw, you get your money back.  Interestingly enough, played these boosts twice and both teams the team I took won.  So I am squarely taking England here but I also have insurance that many of you might not have.  So if you take England Draw/No bet it's super highly juiced but you can at least just sit back and enjoy the game.

The one play I do think has value is in Harry Kane scoring a goal.  Seems whenever England scores he's on the scoresheet, he has had the most amazing season of any goalscorer ever, and it seems in this tournament the top goal threats are all netting.  I know this is not the most popular play but it's offered at plus money for a guy who has a much higher chance than anyone TODAY to get on the scoresheet.

HARRY KANE ANYTIME GOALSCORER (+125)

Really couldn't hate Portugal more, they are total pretenders and always have been.  I think Ronaldo holds them back not picks them up.  Would love a deciding goal but I think this game is my kryptonite today.  Pathetic by the Portuguese but I somewhat knew that would could take place.  I'l be back to update record in a bit, gonna have to take a walk.

That's fine when they win they usually score 3 but with a long tournament they might rest guys if they are up 2-0 for instance, since I personally do not see Uzbekistan scoring.  The Ghana/Panama game will have lots of goals imo so maybe also take a look there unless you want to wait for plays in a few hours.
