    Tuesday June 22

    33.  South Africa / France - South Africa PK +135 (2 units) - If you are looking for something insightful on why I am taking SA, sorry, you wont get it here.  Im taking them for every obvious reason possible.  Its an easy equation for me:  the France situation + SA home game + SA at plus odds = an autobet.  How could anyone bet on France here?  Of course they can win, and of course they are more talented - and if you told me at the beginning of the tournament that I would be betting SA in this game I would have told you that you were crazy - but I cant NOT bet SA here.  Predicted final score SA 2 France 1.

    34.  Mexico / Uruguay - No draw +130 (2 units) - Alright, so the obvious result here is a draw right?  So this exact situation has only happened once in the last 20 years of World Cups and Euro tournaments - it was 1996 Euro in group A - England and the Netherlands were on 4 points each and playing each other, and Scotland and Switz were on 1 point each and playing each other.  A draw would put England and the Netherlands through - but England won 4-1.  There are 3 other examples where 2 teams were on 4 points, one on 2 and one on 0 and the two top teams played each other.  In these cases -  2 times there was a draw - and 1 time no draw.  The most famous of these was at the 2004 Euro when fellow Scandinavians Denmark and Sweden played to a famous 2-2 draw that was later investigated.

Add all of this to the fact that if there is a draw here - Mexico plays Argentina while Uruguay gets Korea, Nigeria, or Greece.  Do you really think Mexico doesnt know this and wont be trying to win?  Final score prediction - Uruguay 2 Mexico 1.

    35.  Argentina / Greece - No Bet -  It is taking all of my will power not to bet Argentina -160 here.  Maradona has said that he will start Messi and Veron, and that they are playing to win and taking it like a normal game.  Greece played a horrendous, disgusting, and putrid 115 minutes of soccer before getting a Nigerian red card which turned it on a dime for them - but I cant forget what I saw.  I have no belief that they will be able to do anything, especially in a situaiton where they must win - and play a style that they are uncomfortable with and not very good at.  But I cant ignore that 160 is a lot to pay for a team that has little motivation, against a team that is playing for their lives.  My heart tells me this one ends up 3-0 for Argentina, but my head tells me not to bet it and my money remains in my pocket.  Final predicted score - Argentina 3 Greece 0.

    36.  South Korea / Nigeria - South Korea PK -123 (2 units) - If Nigeria win, and Greece lose, Nigeria goes through.  Nigeria knows this - but of course the S Koreans do too.  Nigeria has injuries and a suspension - Taiwo might play but is hobbled and was substituted for in the last game - and Kaita is out serving a red card suspension.  I have been impressed by the Koreans play - even in the 4-1 loss to Argentina they always looked poised and playing well - up until the final two late goals.  They looked great against Greece - and I think this is the type of disciplined team that will not panic and will counterattack against a desperate Nigerian team.  Nigeria + desperation = lapses; and I wouldnt be surprised to see Korea take advantage of tons of space on the counterattack and turnovers in the midfield.  If Nigeria get an early goal, it will play to their strength and against Koreas - but the longer it is scoreless the better chance I see of Korea scoring (if that makes sense).  Predicted final score South Korea 1 Nigeria 0.

    GL ALL!!

I kinda think France actually plays to thier potential this game. Still an outside shot of qualifying and they could take a "screw the world" attitude and smoke RSA. But I like the over in that game much better. RSA will be playing for pride and will take it's chances. With qualification on the line, France should to.

    GL with your plays.

Hey Van 1st all of all hats off for great info and your streak.
I do if i may disagree with you on the 3 games you picked. (personal opinion obv)
I think that France will play not for the coach but for themselves.   They only only emabarsed themselves but their country and i just dont see it how they dont feel any guilt for it.  I remember a good example when Poland was a mess comming into the WC in Korea.  Team was a total disaster there was 3 different groups.  It was a team of strangers.  1st game they lost to Korea then 2nd 4-0 to Portugal...3rd game with 0 chance to qualify vs US (team that needed the win to advance or Portugal loss (which happened but no one expected that) Poland beat US 3-1 and all the players said that this was for all the shame they caused to their fans and nation.
I see the same thing in this game.  + remember that South Africa is one of the weakest teams in this tourney (on paper)  they are playing decent but now they know that they are out i see them opening up and France taking this game 3-0 FRANCE

I also see the Nigeria game as a big deal and i think they are better then the Koreans.  + I am sure FIFA wants African nation in this tourney. (don't forget about the best goalie of the tourney thus far) NIGERIA WINS  1-0 or at least a DRAW

Mexico and Chile were my dark horses of this tourney and i will still stick by that.  In my opinion Mexico is a better team then our USA.
They play tough, rough I and fast football.   i see this game 1-1 but if i had to pick the winner it would be MEXICO! 1-0

hopefully u will find some time to elaborate on my view.
also, any chance u go to Euro in 2012??
best of luck..please continue your input here @ covers

Yikes, I'm not thinking the same on this trio.

French players play to make the coach look bad. 3-1 France.

    Mexico/Uruguay play to a friendly draw, 1-1.

Nigeria plays with pride, tie or better against S. Korea.

    Van,

Wouldn't Mex +$300 and Urg+360 be a better value than the no draw wager? Just asking the math seems correct to me.

Thanks for the posts and the great write ups. BOL in all of your remaining positions.

    nice writeups Van,

I see you have bet Argentina to win it all.  Is that who you would say is going to win the cup, if asked today?

I have a small future on them as well.   But this article I just read is a little upsetting..  https://www.thefinalthird.com/2010/06/21/martin-palermo-and-the-downfall-of-argentina/

I'd be curious to hear your take on that article.

GL tomorrow.  I'm going to ride with you on a game or 2.

It was a Ghanaian player who injured him, and it was a reckless tackle. People in Germany are saying Boateng did it on purpose. Ballack is missing his last worldcup of his career, kinda sucks.

I've placed my largest wager of the tourney on Germany for the following reasons:

    1. Germany must win to advance. Unless they get lucky in the other match. The Germans wont take that chance, they want to seal their own fate.

    2. Think the Germans would love to get revenge for the dirty play by the ghana player on their captain, superstar and best player in the last 8 years in Ballack.

    3. Ghana sucks. They've only scored on PKs in this tourney, their attack is horrendous.

I think you have a future on Germanys not advancing? you might not be as high on this team as I am, but there's no way I can see them not beating this Ghana team.

I would like to share this article with you...looks like the Germans are so pissed, they want to actually take the ghanaian player to court

Every spectator has seen what Boateng did. That was clearly a foul with the intention to hurt Ballack. We are considering taking legal action," said Becker to Bild.

"We are thinking about taking the case to civil court, but criminal punishment is also an option. You can't just intentionally break the rules to hurt your opponent. It's not like a football field is a place where the law doesn't count, unlike what Boateng thinks."

Ballack's agent claims that the influential midfielder could miss out on about €1 million on income from sponsors and bonuses due to his two-month absence as a result of Boateng's reckless tackle.

I am on Germany large and it will be larger by gametime.

I started buying at -170, and am giving a goal too.  Will probably end up being one of my biggest bets of the tournament.

I am on Germany large and it will be larger by gametime.

I started buying at -170, and am giving a goal too.  Will probably end up being one of my biggest bets of the tournament.

I have a small future on them as well.   But this article I just read is a little upsetting..  https://www.thefinalthird.com/2010/06/21/martin-palermo-and-the-downfall-of-argentina/

I'd be curious to hear your take on that article.

GL tomorrow.  I'm going to ride with you on a game or 2.

Im very happy with my argentina bet - and not so impressed with that article.  Everyone knows that Argentinas offense is the strength of their team - and by comparison any defense isnt going to be as good - but I will take Heinze, Samuel, and DiMichelis over most defenses in the tournament.

    Everyone has an opinion....

I guess we can agree to disagree....

I definitely hope to be at Euro 2012.

Hey Van, my book has Germany minus 200.  Do you think there is any way this comes back down?  How much have you put on Germany and how much more do you plan on adding?  Thanks

Van you picked NO DRAW for the MEX-URU, however in our local bookies only ATS odds are available. So is Uruguay really the better team with your 2-1 prediction?

tough day tomorrow since a lot of future bets are on the line.  i will also take S. Africa for the same reasons and i like your bet on no draw in Mexico/Uruguay.  i'll follow that one.

    Good luck.

van ya ur missing value by betting no draw @ that line....DRAW is -225 so no draw +120 seems like not fair @ all...way better to take one side +350 for 1 unit and 1 side +400

still risking 2 units but u net 2.5 profit minimum this way and 3 if uruguay wins!  keep it up man :) youre doin sick
