TOURNAMENT: 129-103-9 (BIG PLAY: 46-32-7)
Hasn't been good nor profitable of late. I knew the USA was going to lose, they always do to Belgium, and so we didnt play that. I didn't think they would actually lose that badly nor play that poorly. Gifting two goals is incredibly frustrating but doing so to a top level team you already have issues against is suicidal. And that's what we ended up watching.
No idea how they couldn't score a second goal but I have now had literally 3 forwards go off with injury when I have played them as anytime goalscorer. That's been the tough luck we have experienced.
No big write up, a couple of things stand out. One, Argentina opened the scoring before the 30th minute in four of their last five games. I really like them to get a goal early but then again, Egypt netted exactly one first-half goal in four of their last five internationals. I'm not sure if there will be 2 early goals, these games are usually pretty mum in the first halves and Argentina has done really well against poor sides.
But Egypt is not poor and I feel can get a goal on Argentina. Not because Cape Verde got a couple, it took them extra time to do so, but because I think they have the quality to deliver:

I will say this...If Argentina gets one early, as they have been doing every game except last, and for some time now, we cannot lose both plays. A silent FH will be the only way we can. Otherwise, if Egypt nets one in the FH too, we should at WORST push. Not what I would want or predict, but the odds have set up that this provides some value to a play that I only see going in one direction.
Here is my warning....for whatever reason, once Argentina gets into the knockout rounds, they seem to hit extra time or play to their opponents. For as good as they are, and they have been sublime, this has been their trend over many World Cup's. Puzzling indeed, but they seem to in the end prevail. I don't think that happens today (or I'd be playing Egypt plus 1.5), but might revisit at half.
