Enjoy bowling. Love it myself. Used to go often but now I need a hip replacement so that ended that Not sure if it was bowling related but the amount of hip injuries I see in bowling is ridiculous. I think the dude from Lebowski would be disappointed to see that. But I’ve had a few friends who’ve had to walk away due to hip and low back issues.”Well, that’s just your opinion, man…” How that didn’t win best picture that year I will never know. I used to go on Sunday mornings and Wednesday afternoons too “old men” bowling. There was me and four or five guys in like late twenties/early thirties and everyone else 55 to 70’s. I knew them from golf course I was member at, as much fun as I have ever had. You threw in 20 bucks and they would randomly draw partners, handicap was used. Best part was me and my buddies would have side bets going on whether a guy would pick up a spare or not. The look on a guy in mid 70s when he misses a spare and buddy screams at him, you are better then that Jack!” Foots over the foul line!!!!!! The pro shop owner and someone I consider a friend at the bowling alley I use to bowl at was the bowling director for that movie (Barry Asher). He actually was the guy who threw the last shot in the movie. So when he was signed on he brought in my current coach to assist as well (Mark Baker) and he had the privilege to teach Jeff Bridges. When they first met Mark was putting his bowling shoes on with no socks because Mark hated the feel and Bridges gave him crap for it. So he told him to not judge until you try and sure enough that’s where you see Bridges putting on the shoes with no socks on. So they are bowling and getting ready for filming and rumors were swirling that Baker was there and locals wanted to bowl him for money. They caught up to Baker and tried getting him to play but I guess he didn’t have the type of money that they wanted to play for. So he walks back to the filming area and Bridges asked him what that was all about and Baker was talking to him about locals always wanting to take a shot at him, they don’t respect him yet in Southern California he was a hot shot young kid moving through the pro ranks. And Baler told Bridges that he just didn’t have the money to bowl them. So later that night, they caught up to Baker again pressuring him. This time Bridges was with him (in full costume so nobody knew who he was) and asked how much per game and said 1500 per game but literally told Bridges to stay out of it had no business talking. Again, he’s in costume so nobody knows who he is and dressed like a bum. Literally pulls out a wad of cash, throws it to Bakes and says “I’ll spot him” As he’s walking away he hears “who is that guy” turns around, puts his sunglasses on and says “I’m the dude” and walks away. literally one of the best stories I have been told ever Baker goes on and makes an extra $7500 bucks that night.wow, thats wild! So cool
Bowlers in the 70s thru 90s were something else based on the stories I was told. Would never be able to get away with the crap they did back then. But that seems to be the norm for most things it feels like.

Apologies for the novel post guys, but it’s a cool story if you like the big Lebowski
I have a buddy who randomly every few months I will text, a quote form that film, “The man in the black pyjamas, a worthy fuckin advisory.” For me it is the really obscure lines that were the best. “A little showed called Branded, he wrote the bulk of series, not exactly a lightweight and yet his son is a dunce.
We should stop eating bananas.
