That is with all well wishing with socialists, and hey I don't disagree. However it was freaking hot back in the old days as well and guess what old prople died. In Spain the villas had the servants sleep in the "penthouse" while the owners slept downstairs. ![]()

I grew up without central heating and AC. But it was a big older house and they were designed for better ventilation if you opened doors and windows, etc.
But in winter had woodburing stove.
But newer houses that are designed with AC in mind are in terrible shape if power goes out, etc.
But you are right the politicians may mean well. But there are many better things to do than not let old folks have AC for a bit.
Besides it is only for a small portion of the summer.

DJ , i remember the summer of 2003 back home , heatwave over 6 weeks , no AC , no cooling at night , 10s of thousands people died that summer in Europe , mostly the elderly and sick of course
