The Adidas Trionda FIFA ball introduced a new side-mounted chip system. The 500 Hz Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) consists of MEMS accelerometers and gyroscopes. It tracks the ball's speed, spin, and exact millisecond of impact 500 times per second. Instead of being held in the middle by a suspension system, the chip now sits directly in a specially designed layer within one of the ball's four panels. To ensure the ball flies true and remains completely balanced, Adidas incorporated counterweights into the other three panels.</
