WHat the? How can you compare what Daniel Anderson did for a 10 week period to what Des has done this year to the team?

The Eels were near last half way through the competition, and they threw out the play book and played with nothing to lose. Everyone saw this. They played hot potato and went down swinging.......Everything stuck, everything stuck, combined that with Hayne who had a golden perido which will never be replicated again.

Robson and Mortimer simply played off the back of that high risk , high reward strategy........

The bulldogs do not play that high risk brand at all. Rather, Des has implemented strategies, structures whch will see a long term succesful outcome like what he did at Manly, to which Toovey is living off at the moment.......That is a sign of a fantastic coach...especially with what he has done with keating and Reynolds.....

Many commentators are calling for Reynolds to be in origin...did anyone say that about Morts and Robson at the time? No, those guys simply lived off the back of Hayne from a brand of high risk, high reward type of football....where as Reynolds and KK are an integral part of what the the dogs are doing....

What happened to Parra the following year when all of a sudden they played like there was something to lose rather than to win? They didnt even make the 8.

Look at how Parra are playing the last 5 weeks...This is very very similar to what they did in the 2nd half of 09...As a matter of fact, if Kearney was canned 1/3 of the way through the season and they adopted this strategy they are currently playing, they would make the 8.......simply because they are playing a high risk brand and its sticking....thats not long term sustainable...

    Comparing the 2 is ridicolous

Of the names bandied around? none of them. No one from a club should be considered, not because of club allegiance but because none of them do a good job.

The AFL over rates itself. Its a monopoly sport that looks after itself. They are leaking cash big time (not just in GWS) and when the shit hits the fan in a few years time all the AFL types won't be looking so rosey

The guy from Penrith being bandied about should not be allowed with 1000ft of any management role

Put simply, there is nobody in this country good enough. They need to reach overseas into one of the major sporting leagues and tap someone there. One who knows how to market the game (NRL is the worst marketed sport I've come across), can deal with the differing factions, understands the importance of grass roots.

But, its all an old boys club in this country. The small talent pool means they all suck each other off

People like Joel Litvin, Brian Sabean, Jonathan Hall, All with better skill sets and experience then the muppets we have here. The gane just signed a $200m a year deal, they can afford to pay the right person

Once again, who were Parras halves in 2005? were they minor premiers? who was their coach? By your rationale, that guy is a genius

Totally agree re the suitability, or distinct lack thereof, of anyone within rugby league circles. Some of the 'possibles' I've seen mentioned are nothing short of terrifying.

Never contemplated the possibility of someone from OS but it's a good point and why not aim a little higher and go for someone with broader view and experience in running a code...? But then, the people who're making this decision have to be open to that possibility, and I have my doubts that they'd be that open minded.

Josh Morris drops the ball sideways. The ref calls a knock on. Josh Morris says, "are you serious"?. No swearing, nothing...Morris gets penalised........

Thats what you call coming into a game with a pre-concieved notion that you are going to do whatever it takes for one team to lose.......

By the way, the dogs lost the penalty count 12-2 that game against a Titans team that was 1-7 or something like that...

The refs look at the weekend draw at the start of each week, decide who they are going to make life difficult for and bet based on who they are gonna penalise out of the game...happens every week.....I also have learnt, the vid ref can very very easily have a different bet to what the on field refs have.......

As if a ref sitting down with his family and close friends watching TV during the week, seeing odds splashed on the TV every 5 secs are just gonna ignore it.....fuck off....They all bet, all of them bet...Humans are fallable, especially where money is involved, NRL refs are no different........

The Storm didnt recieve a penalty all game against the Broncos on Fruday night and i backed the Broncoc with the start...

The funny thing is, 90% of posters here knew the Broncos and the Tigers were gonna win the penalty counts that night....a few wanted to multi it up if they had the chance.....

Its one of the most corrupt comps in the world is the NRL...No one gives a fuck about anyone in this world apart from there own pocket....
