But the NFL has been all style and no substance for about 20 years.
That stat is misleading as the lock-out forbid teams from having OTAs and workouts. The defenses in Week One were all coasting out there, pulling shit outta there asses trying not to look stupid. They had no cohesion and no gameplan. Defenses had no chance in Week One due to the lockout.
Now if that continues in Week Eight, let's say, then we've got a problem.

Should be allowed to strip the ball - if you can't hold it then bad luck to you.
Also, get the scrums to be an even contest or completely get rid of them
If you want to tackles to be even more about technique rather than wrestling, make it a two man tackle only and hopefully it will reduce the number of players holding down the player who wants to play the ball quicker.

AGREED - This non-strip regulation IS ASININE.

I can't see scrums ever being an even contest without slowing the game down heaps to ensure fairness and player safety. Getting rid of them completely is the way to go if you are going to approach this avenue. Quick taps always instead?

Disagree. What if two men are unable to bring a guy down? What do the other defenders who are present do?
