Just watching this game on fox, manly v raiders semi in 91......the game was completely different to what it is today...The game was soooo much faster then. A tackle is made, they get up immediately and let him play the ball..Today is just wrestle, wrestle, wrestle and wrestle......Get to tackle 5, put up a bomb and hope for the best...

The game has gone so far backwards as a spectacle its not funny.....

Bellamy and the storm have completely f#### the game of rugby league, with Harrigan and Gallop letting them get away with it

    Agreed

If they make everythink the storm invents illegal then the game would be better. Just get rid of those cheats. My best moment of last year was when the warriors fans started chanting cheats cheats cheats while smith was trying to take the kick.

    It's not just league.

American Football is becoming a sport pussified by officials and businessmen in suits.

Seems like this is a worrying phenomenon across a lot of majot sporting codes; losing the edge and tenacity it once had.

Too much parity in pro sport now due to so we no longer get to see the top notch elite teams play anymore...the quality of the best is no where near as good as it used to be. Still I bet on it

It can all be put down to 2 factors

    1. When they let coaches decide and interpret the rules
    2. When Gallop came along

Seeing the injury list for week one says otherwise, but we all know what you mean when it comes to QB's. But then again, tell that to the Colts

I knew jack shit about league 10 years ago and they are now doing some things that I called for back then - Monday Night Football and a 2nd ref, for example. And they STILL need to get with the times.

For starters, they need to divide the league up into divisions. Why is State of Origin so big? Because they're is....DIVISION!

And they need to change the TV format/schedule on SoO week and drop Wednesday night Origin. If players can back up their club 5 days apart from matches, the same can be done for Origin week so the public does not have to endure the depleted Origin club matches.

Have more actual HOME games and youth player interaction at such games, league is going up against other codes and sports and will never progress like American football did.

Make league more profitable > commercials before each conversion.

Make it more TV friendly, this is the reason why American football not only surpassed other sports, it dominates on the level of worldwide soccer.

Meant the rules.  New kickoff rules, can't blink at a QB now, no horsecollars, can't touch a punter, can't look at a guy out of bounds.

    All silly.

What they really need to do is

    - Bring reserve grade back immediately. This will bridge the gap between NYC and 1st grade. The difference will be noted during Origin when the game turns into a shitfest. If all 3 grades travel together, prepare similar, play on the same grounds etc etc, there will be more consistency.

    - This wrestling is a big big problem....Seriously, if i was a coach in the modern game, i would honestly spend 95% of the pre season and weeks on defense......The game doesnt reward offense....Look at the weekend, the Storm scored 1 try off a drop ball (lucky), another off a bomb where the ball bounced back straight to Manu and just ONE well constructed try......The Knights scored 2 well constructed tries and they lost. Storm didnt even look like scoring,....They just wrestled, wrestled and wrestled and won........No wonder only 13,000 fans turned up......Do they want to see wrestling?

League is going very good in ratings etc, but it is like me saying, well i got 65% in my exam but i didnt study for it, imagibe if i did study for it. Translate, imagine the ratings and crowds if league turned into a spectacle again?

    Week 1 - 13 QB's with 300+ yards passing

    Last year - 3

And last year there was P.Manning, nit this year.

    Points = viewers

But the NFL has been all style and no substance for about 20 years.

How many penalties have you seen this year for markers not being square? Farah and Luke haven't been as dominate because the markers are getting saway with anything

The refs (ie Harrigan) are selective about which rules to enforce

The NFL is trying to make things "safer" so they can some how swing an 18 game schedule, which would fuck everything up, in more ways than one.

    * At least the players told them to fuck off on that one during the lockout.

    The title should read,

    "Rostos has gone backwards"

"Back in 91 he was sooo much faster"

That's why teenagers are not allowed into the NFL, but they are in league. The death rate would be to high.
