Battler's State of Origin: Game 3

I just listened to Geoff Carr be interviewed. I have heard him plenty of times before and have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but that will do me.

 

For those who don't know, Geoff Carr is the CEO of NSWRL.

 

He needs to go. He sounded completely inept, devoid of ideas, defensive, arrogant and plain stupid. If NSWRL needs to change it's structure and approach to Origin, which they clearly do, I think they need to start at the top.

 

The selectors need to go as well. All of them. I'm not even convinced that there should be selectors. Let the coach pick the team and thereby he can be truly accountable for the result.

 

It's come out today that Bellamy wanted Mullen for game one, didn't get him. Campese was duly punted, and he wanted Mullen for game two. Didn't get him. I'm not suggeting that the result would have been any different, but a coach can't implement his plan if he hasn't even got the side he wants. Now, I'm not sure if Bellamy will even be there next year, but you can't place all the blame on him when he didn't get the team he wanted.

 

Perhaps let him have another crack next year but let him pick the side. If he picks his Melbourne players again (Turner, White) and NSW fail, sack him. Pretty fucking simple I would have thought.

You have to laugh at you two....No Idea V1 (Battler), please change Geoff Carr to your name and the NSWRL to the HOG's tips and you have just described yourself....the fact No idea V2 (Chk) backs you up is to funny...

 

Now before you both get in a complete tizzz about me posting on your thread, you have got to appreciate that you keep gifting me these opportunities....

Titans v. Warriors  

 

Another game that the player ratings do not put up a clear favourite but with the poor away record of the Warriors in conjunction with the good home record of the Titans, it skews the ratings pretty clearly to the home team. Even without Bailey and Harrison the Titans have a slight advantage in their hard working forward pack. Yes the Warriors have a big pack but they tend to struggle against physical packs who keep fronting up to them all game.

 

Not much in it at the line but stick with the Black Prince to get the Titans home covering the 6.5 start. 

 

Rooster v. Sharks

 

Turn off the porch light, Harolds' coming home. Yes the tip is the Roosters, the cockle doodleless will crack it for a win. The forwards and the bench are very even but the Roosters even without Braith have an advantage over the Shark backs. It is a sad indictment on the game of Rugby League when the team running last, who have lost their captain and six, can still outrate the oppositions backline. The Roosters would have targeted this game as winable and they have a great record against the gummies. Look for a very big game from Junior Junior who will take the criticism as a kick up the butt and show what he is made of.

 

Look around for the best start the Roosters and dont put an early "Holt" on celebrations, Harold does not come home to often.

Battler i like the concept of the coach and coaching staff picking their squad. it makes sense and as you say also makes someone accountable for the results.

 

in game three i would love to see nsw go all out and try something new, pick some fringe players and begin to formulate their 2010 strategy.

 

game 3 is a dead rubber, everyone (the media) will say it isn't and thats just to get bums on the seats. you lose the series the series is lost who cares if it is 2-1 or 3-0 not me. i care what the result is in 2010. 2009 is done and dusted

Agree AM, they have to start planning for next year. I couldn't care less if they lose 3-0, makes no difference in my opinion. They blooded seven in game 1, six in game 2.

 

I think it is pretty clear from the results that there is half a dozen or so guys in the team that played game 2 that won't be there next year, if ever again. There is no point persisting with them this year and then throwing seven more debutants to the wolves game one 2010.

Fox Sports News interviewed Daley yesterday and asked whether he would be up for the role - surely it was a gee up.  Although, it would be comical to see the nose involved - if NSW are going to lose it might as well be funny as well.
