So how will this game go? Well this is probably the strongest Lions team named yet. That said, they also face probably the toughest opposition of the tour outside of the NZ Maori and the All Blacks. The Lions will get better and better with each passing day, but I think this is a sizeable speedbump, and one they will struggle to overcome at this early juncture. Another loss for the Lions unfortunately.

    My prediction: Crusaders by 10

I’m going to go the other way and say England will win comfortably.

By comfortable I mean couple of scores, 10 to 14 points.

France by 20-30 more, Ireland by 10-15 more

The England game is interesting and could go either way depending on which Argentina turn up and how well the English young guns perform. I’m gonna stick my neck out and say narrow Argie win

I'm probably in the minority here but I'm backing the Lions over the Crusaders. Like the look of the Lions lineup - don't think it's "full strength", but perhaps the strongest line up so far.
Far from convinced about Gatland and Howley (attack coach) but in theory they should've learnt one or two things following the Blues game.
I know the Crusaders pack have been exceptional all season, but can see the Lions being their equal.
Crusaders without Crotty in the midfield (key man especially defensively) and I like the Lions centre pairing of Te'o and Davies who are both in excellent form. Williams on the wing and Hogg at FB can't possibly play as poorly as they did in their previous games.

Fully prepared to end up with egg on my face here, but my bets as follows:
    Lions to win @ 2.40
    Small dabble at Crusaders/Lions HT/FT @ 8.5

Updated video preview for semi finals day from Oracle covering all the games.

I presume that as all matches are in effect, semi finals that the intention will be to get through without any injuries and save as much energy for the last matches as possible. So all pluses have to be the way to go

    Samoa + 15.5
    Georgia + 17.5
    Italy + 20.5
    Scotland + 8.5
    SA + 5.5
    France + 16.5

At 9/10 each ( and may we make at least 4 )

T2M, I don't want to come across too harsh but I don't think you should be posting Oracle videos here. Oracle rarely justifies his bets- he simply says something like "I think the Lions will cover this no problem and for me the handicap should be something like 20". But why should the handicap be 20?
Where a justification is provided its almost always too narrow focused. That is, it leaves important factors out of account.

I know he's up overall but, owing to the short season, this could purely be down to luck. The lack of logic and reasoning in his videos only reinforce this point.

I'm posting this to warn people here not to follow this guy. He is likely just riding a good luck wave and using this opportunity to garner a following.

In the above post, I said that Oracle tends to say things like "I think the Lions will cover this no problem and for me the handicap should be something like 20". I wasn't referring to the specific video in the post I quoted- I was simply giving a generic example.

But If we take the video above as an example (Highlanders v Lions), Oracle says "The handicap of 4.5 is ridiculous- the Lions should beat this easily". Well why is 4.5 ridiculous? He gives no reason.

It has been very clear the gulf in talent between the Lions 1st and 2nd XV. The midweek team may very well lose to both the Chiefs & Canes but assuming the 1st XV is out there against the Maori on Saturday they could make quite a statement. Maori set piece is never any good, they have a very good backline that can carve anyone with quick ball but I don't think they'll get that. Lions pack completely thwarted the Saders pack which is basically an All Black pack. Yes some are saying the ref was poor, possibly but the Saders were still completely shut down like never before. First time they've ever been held to less than 7 points at home.

The books do not recognise a difference between the 2 Lions teams, they are treating it as though it just one team and that is where the value lies. Lions to beat Maori by 15+.

I reckon Tonga, Scotland & France are all a chance this weak. Strong Tongan team (by their standards) vs a 2nd string Welsh team, in Auckland where there is strong support for Tonga. Wales lack of depth has been exposed by a 2nd string Chiefs team last year and also Japan a few years back. Tonga to certainly cover +24.5 which is mad I reckon.

Not sure why Scots are +14.5 with a near full strength team, Jonny Gray & Hamish Watson will be back this week too. Australia took a step in the right direction last week by breeding some new talent but they're very very green. Fiji were somewhat better than the scoreline, they were making metres, busting tackles and getting offloads away all evening but they were very sloppy when it came to the finishing touches. Towards the end of the game they started to show some patience and scored a well worked try. Scotland are a much more finished product and there is no reason why they cannot go close or even win this one.

Springboks got a big win but was it that good? 37 handling errors by France is unlikely to happen again. I believe France are expecting a number of front line players back for this match which will make a big difference but for me the biggest thing is that it's at sea level in Durban. Boks record in Durban is VERY average compared Loftus & Ellis Park. France to go close in this one and Boks to run them off the park in Joburg next week.

Also very much like Fiji to win @ home vs Italy, this is another line that looks very silly. Fiji have an impeccable record at home vs teams in the same conversation as Italy. 3 losses & 1 draw in their past 15 home matches. Fiji are also expecting a few more big guns back this week. Italy rarely venture outside Europe but when they do, they're very bad. 2 wins, 8 losses with an average score of 17-29 is their record playing in the Pacific Islands.

100% agree with your sentiments on the NZ Maori v Lions Davopnz.

Maori look particularly weak in the 2nd row and perhaps lack a big ball carrier as well. I expect Lions set piece to really do a job on them and earn a comfortable victory off the back of it. Tries or no tries.

Backed Lions -3 earlier in the week and I note it's now -5 with most bookies.

    another one says..

tonga now  +19.5 and fiji  1.70..we missed  +24.5 for tonga..this game is in AUCKLAND

Likely Wales XV v Tonga: Gareth Anscombe; Alex Cuthbert, Scott Williams, Jamie Roberts (capt), Steff Evans; Sam Davies, Gareth Davies; Nicky Smith, Scott Baldwin, Tomas Francis, Cory Hill, Rory Thornton, Ellis Jenkins, Ollie Griffiths, Thomas Young.

They will sneak a win this weekend but for the next one not so sure.

    • RABBITOHS vs Titans
    • STORM vs Cowboys
    • SHARKS vs Tigers
    • Eels vs DRAGONS
i like all 4  homw games to win 1-12 this week.. every NRL games will be super close this week

abbitohs by 6 I think the Rabbitohs will finally change their season around

Sharks by 4 I think the Sharks should get over the Tigers here

Eels by 2 I think the Eels will bounce back

Storm - The Storm missing 5 and the Cowboys missing 4 makes this one very interesting. I reckon the better formline is the Storm beating the Sharks compared to the Cowboys beating the Eels. That and the fact it’s in Melbourne has me picking the Storm Troopers by 4

Funny thing in previous years I.e the 2011 and 2015 squad, almost half of the Samoa team were new zealand born and raised. New Zealand has a Samoan population of 110,000 approx which is about 70% of that of Samoa.

Bokke all the way!!! General Jantjies will control and win this game 4 us

    SPRINGBOKKE 31 - FRANSE 24

Tonga v Wales - I'm struggling with the cap. With wales missing their Lions & some injuries I don't expect them to be as defensively sound, coupled with Tonga's offloading game I expect that Tonga should be able to put some points on the board. However I am expecting the same from Wales, if the Scarlets contingent can bring the ambition & confidence they had at the end of the Pro12 season then we should have a pretty exciting game. I have seen points quotes of 50.5 @ 5/6 or 51.5 @ 10/11, subject to checking conditions in the morning I will happily take either

    wales  win 1-12
    south africa win 1-12
    argi win  1-12
    ausi win 1-12
    ireland win 1-12..
    B and I Lions win 1-12..

try small parlay with these games.
