Why didn't you vote for Ron Paul?

I respect that you vote for Ron Paul and I don't think you waste your vote. At all.
Vote for what you believe in.

Ktorp you're the man and so is Ron Paul.  I would just like to say that I couldn't agree with his foreign policy any more than i do already.  I like that you highlighted the fact that he is for a strong national DEFENSE.  We will protect our borders and police our own country, not the rest of the world.  You are right again when you say that putting military all across the world is part of the reason we are in the situtation we are in now.  We are spending a ton of money to keep our military spread out across the world and its contributing to our debt.  Ron Paul is a true believer in the Constitution and I respect that.  There are barely any people left in this country that actually care about our Constitution.  John McCain and Barack Obama are a complete joke if you care about what our country was founded on.  I don't like either of these fools so I will most certainly vote for Ron Paul on election day.  Ron Paul said it best when he stated that every election we have 2 candidates from 2 different parties that act like they have tremendous differences.  This is true.  The real difference is between Ron Paul and these 2 clowns.  We need to get the Commission on Presidential Debates to stop the shameful act of only allowing 2 parties to debate.  How appropriate that the commission was formed by the 2 main parties and that it did not allow Perot to debate.  Nader should be allowed in tonight's debate.  He would shit on these 2 clowns.  Ron Paul would bring the house down.  VOTE FOR RON PAUL.  DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO PUSH YOU INTO VOTING FOR THE LESSER OF 2 EVILS.  PROVE A POINT AND VOTE FOR THE MAN.  DR RON PAUL.

when he was in the republican debates he sat there like a stump, didn't say anything and was pushed around. his personality is quite boring and unfortunately, people are not drawn to him because of that.
his stance on defense is to sit back and be reactive not pro-active, i would like him to be more pro-active in dealing with these Islamic terrorists, not sit back and wait to get hit

If I was sure that Obama would win, I would consider writing in Paul. But I don't trust the polls & think it'll be too close not to vote for Obama because I think it is important & does matter that he gets in instead of McCain/Palin.

Nice post Bundy.  You are also the man.  The fact that only two candidates are allowed in the nationally televised debates should tell people a lot about this "democracy."  Yes the people are given a choice, but they give you the candidates to chose from.  It wouldn't work if there was only one party, so these two parties are there to give us the illusion of a choice.  It's like Bill Clinton's mentor, Carol Quigley said, "The two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can 'throw the rascals out' at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy."  Peace my dude.

Believing you waste your vote if you vote for alternatives is a crock that is propelled by the two party system. If you believe this, isn't it a waste of your vote to vote Obama in Utah or McCain in California....Doesn't that end up meaning that votes only matter in Pa, Ohio, Florida, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wisconsin with a handful of others here and there? Why vote at all? We can just sit around and allow the powerful and rich to control the masses. 

ktropp, as to abortion being state run...it can't work. We cannot turn back the clock on this. I am pro-life and believe abortion to be a moral wrong. It feeds into the notion of lack of accountability and responsibility of our citizenry. With that said, if we were to make it a state issue, we would have a state like Utah making it illegal and a state like Mass making it legal. The poor in the illegal state would not be able to get an abortion and have more trouble travelling because of costs...thus it would be an inequality amongs our citizenry. The Federal Legislature must either make an amendment banning abortion rights or allow and regulation these senseless acts.

Also, a note on the thread...it is the first thread that all posters seem respectful and agreeable to having an interesting dialogue that I have been a part of. Great thread

i was lucky enough to live in brazoria county and have dr paul as representation, i have and will continue to donate to dr paul and his "crazy" ideas
 
now i live in a state that will not allow him on the ballot, i only have two choices

You must have been watching different debates than I was because he stood up for his stances on multiple occasions, including an infamous clash with Rudy Giuliani.  Here is Ron Paul owning the rest of the candidates:

Secondly, being proactive in this so called "War on Terror" is what led to us getting attacked on 9/11.  If we weren't over in the Middle East supporting dictatorships and police states, we would not have been attacked.  I suggest listening to Michael Scheuer, the former head of the CIA's Bin Laden unit, on why Bin Laden attacked us and why he hates us.

I really don't understand this point of view, which I hear often, as Obama and Ron Paul have nothing in common.  Ron Paul has stated he doesn't understand why young people switch between supporting himself and Obama.  He stated that in the case of Obama, change is just a word.

I fully agree with you on the point of so called "wasted votes."  You should vote for who you want to be President.  As for your view on states controlling abortion laws, I actually had an identical debate with someone on here last week.  My final proposal was to have proof of state citizenship as a requirement when getting an abortion in states where abortion is legal.  The people of a state shall decide the moral standards for their state.  I also found this thread to be more respectful than most threads found on here.  The message of freedom tends to bring people together.

I envy your representation in Congress.  My rep is Eric Cantor.  I'm not going to get into his policies, I'll just say I don't agree with anything he says.  You can look him up if you wish.  Ron Paul endorsed Chuck Baldwin for the presidency.  He's no Ron Paul, but Chuck Baldwin is the closest thing to him.  Give Chuck Baldwin a look and I think you will like what you see.  The only thing I don't like about him is that he is pro life and anti-gay marriage and would use his executive power to enforce that.

great thread,,,,,,,,my brother turned me on to Ron Paul, I tend to  agree with a great deal this man has to say, he definetly has that "common sense" approach that i think so many politicians lack---well, at least it's common sense in my eyes l,,,,,,,,,,,,,as for mccain and obama,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,McCain/Palin????????,,,,,,,never!,,,,,,,,and i have a good enough reason to vote for obama----------he's good for my job.

For all of you pro lifers out there.  I would like to know where you stand on abortion if its dealing with a woman who has been raped and the result of that rape was her getting pregnant.

Sometimes it is best to vote for the best man for humanity and not just yourself.  In the long run, it will also help you out.  Plus, not giving money away on an income tax would surely give your salary a nice boost.

I'm Pro Ron Paul (no secret) but this is one area I disagree with "pro-life" people.

Ktorp- Thanks for your efforts again. The Revolution will continue beyond this election and that is why it's important to keep this type of discussion alive.

Understand one thing all. With what's going on BEHIND the scenes , it is VERY important to proceed peacefully with the movement.

If and when the "other" option comes, we need the masses to understand that we are NOT a threat to America (this is what they want the masses to believe).

We are a threat to treason and tyranny. We care deeply about our troops and believe they are being used illegally.

Our troops deserve to be held in high regard and not USED as disposable human beings for an illegal war.

Why aren't the pro lifers fighting for the troops lives in this case?

If Ron paul was a democrat he'd have a better chance at getting elected.
He's one of the smartest republicans I have ever heard speak....by a long shot. He's like a einstein compared to the avergage republican.

Yeah he's a cool guy.  I don't think he would be getting elected as a Democrat though, as his economic views are the complete opposite of democrats.  If he had social economic policies, his name would be Dennis Kucinich.  I see him as an Einstein to average Republicans and Democrats.
