One final note the men that signed the declaration of Independence and the men who signed ratified the Constitution were an entire different lot of men save ten those ten men are our heroes.

Jefferson Franklin Washington John Adams. They created a Federalist system of governance. Jefferson moved away from Madison continued and Monroe was the last of the one party. Quincy Adams and Jackson. Could not be more different.. Not in moral caliber or the fortitude of their conviction but in up bringing educational background professional experience ect. Old hickory was on the twenty as he replaced Cleveland. Who was the first to appear on the note. This note can not be traced to Continental Congress. For it took the place of the double eagle crown like coin. Where most walked with a sovereign type coin a five dollar quarter. .... Case being the new Tubman notes are being as well received as the odd Jackson notes were then.....

What exactly do you have a problem with in the guy's statement? He didn't state anything that was incorrect. Mostly just his opinion that there was no need to honor Tubman by diminishing Jackson. He didn't say Tubman wasn't relevant historically, he didn't say she didn't deserve to be honored, and he didn't slight the danger and bravery of her acts. He also didn't say there weren't some flaws with Jackson. Obviously, everyone has flaws. Tubman and Jackson both did. That wasn't his point.

Centaur points some of this out about Jackson and Tubman in his response on the other thread.

Find it somewhat amusing here that the Liberals are the ones knocking Jackson and the Right defending him. After all, Jackson was the original Democrat.

But I suggest you study the history of Jackson and understand the perspective of the decisions that he made that you don't seem to agree with now. It is so easy to sit back a couple of hundred years later and critique a person's actions. No president, politician, military officer, or statesman ever makes all the right decisions---especially when being Monday morning quarterbacked from a couple of centuries distance away.

Again, his point is there are ways to honor Tubman (and many, many others) without diminishing other people that are already being honored. Very simple concept.

Jackson was against paper currency

why was Jackson put on the 20 dollars bill ?

You are correct about his viewpoint. Apparently, they don't consider that when honoring them. I know he was on a lot of stamps as well, etc. I think they are somewhat limited in the ways to honor them with their portrait---and stamps, currency, and the few other things are just the things they use, no matter the folk's viewpoints.

As to why he replaced Cleveland, when Cleveland moved to $1000, it is weird. Nobody actually seems to know the exact reason Jackson was chosen. Maybe because it was around the anniversary of his birth, I think.
