Looking at the big picture, US problem is not population growth or immigration but aging. Seniors population is expected to grow 50% by 2050 but they depend on young people to sustain US economy. Due to low fertility, not enough children are born to replace aging population in the future. Shrinking population threatens economic growth. That is why immigration is the solution.

It just seemed he got the mid-range for the two.
In other words 199x5.78 =1,150.22 for how much more it would cost than what they are planning to get it reduced to.
If he had said a reduction of a certain percentage that would be different obviously.
But I am sure he was looking at numbers that his staff did for him. I doubt he plugged it into a calculator himself.
But it is so very, very weird to me that this is something folks would choose to nitpick EVEN if he had gotten the numbers wrong.
Why not be HAPPY and give him some credit that they are trying to reduce the costs there when the last administration did not even attempt it.
