Why don't you give us 3 accomplishments that qualify 72 yr old McCain (who's had many more yrs to achieve) to be President?
I guess asking Obama supporters what they think are Obama’s top three specific accomplishments that qualify him to be President is a harder question than I originally thought, seeing as how they haven’t given even one specific accomplishment yet, much less three specific ones that qualify him the be President.

1987, McCain became a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, with whom he had formerly done his Navy liaison work; he also joined the Commerce Committee and the Indian Affairs Committee.

jax, I read all your statement and agree. I just don't understand all these people (including some very good friends) that say the are voting for Obama just because they hate GWB and the Republican Party. President Bush has really made it hard to like the Republican ways, almost like he was trying to do it. This does not mean that I disagree with all he has done, only about half. He has put the screws to the middle class in many ways. Again, though, McCain ain't Bush and Palin seems to be a straight-shooter.
Just for the record, I never voted for Bush, I would have but just never went to vote those days.
As for the middle class comment, what exactly did Bush do that put the screws to the middle class? Pretty sure I fall into that bracket and last time I checked I pay less in federal taxes and I received a rebate check a few months ago. If you are referring to the state of the economy, I urge you to look at a history of our economy. It goes through ups and downs in a very cyclical pattern, we were LONG overdue for a correction to the downside. I could theoretically argue that he helped keep the economy up for a longer period time than it normally would have. Of course the downside to that is the correction will be that much worse. I am not a fan of McCain, but with the current choices, I side with him over the marxist/socialist who thinks that the federal gov't should be everything to everybody.

I've had just about enough with the whole "helping out the lower income people". 38% of citizens in this country pay zero income taxes, in fact they get paid by the federal gov't with tax credits and rebate checks. When will it be enough, is there an end? This class warfare shit is flat out ridiculous. Our "poor" people are fat for christ's sake, they own TV's, refridgerators and have indoor plumbing.
Oh, thats not PC, its not their fault, blah blah blah. It's not my fault either, so quit trying to guilt me into thinking that it is. I didn't drop out of school, I didn't knock up some girl at 15 (don't start with the Palin girl because I doubt she will be looking for a fed gov't handout to raise her kid and that is what this rant is about) I don't get my check on Friday and look to blow it on booze and lottery tickets before the sun goes down, I don't have a new car. Ah fuck it, nobody is reading at this point.

You sit there at your table then and enjoy your big bowl full of HOPE and CHANGE and gov't cheese.
I will sit at my table and eat the food I bought with the money I was able to keep in my pocket because I did not have to give it to the federal gov't.

Then you must be one of the lucky ones that has not lost his/her job, lost benefits, or received less pay or fewer hours for your work. Now you want to talk about giving $ to the federal gov't? Do you give less than you did 8 years ago? How is that federal budget coming? McBush will keep spending $ we don't have and reducing the taxes on the top 5% of Americans. TAKE, TAKE, TAKE.
You want 3 qualifications????
1- elected by his party.
2- does not have 26 years of palms to grease
3- WILL HELP OUR COUNTRY TURN THIS CRAP AROUND!!!
4- Will talk before starting a war.
5- Will get our soldiers home and not commit to war for the next 100 years.
6- Has helped the "common workers" fight for jobs.
7- Actually has a platform for change. Not just slinging mud at his opponent.
8- Will work to stop dependancy on foreign oil instead of filling the pockets of those in the oil industry.
9- Can make sensible executive decisions like the ability to choose a qualified VP candidate, not a Governor of 650,000 people who runs on a "moral value" ticket with a BS degree from Idaho....
Now tell me 3 things that qualify McBush any better. Then 3 topics that are on the McBush platform that was brought up at his convention to enshrine his Karibu Barbie into the Holy Trinity.

Only thing that worries me is the number of people who might not be able to pull the lever for Obama because of things like this (whether it makes sense or not) & the way they could be used & intermingle:
1) his youth & inexperience
2) the degree to which the fear-based, win-at-all costs, spin tactics (in regards to foreign affairs, past associations & the economy) might be successful with certain kinds of folks.
3) the fact he is black, a powerful & emotional speaker and his quick rise to prominence. I'm not talking about outright racism toward blacks (though unfortunately that still exists in larger #'s than we like to believe), but more the guy or woman that you'd never dream it would affect (who could even have blacks as friends & seem to be the opposite of racist), but when it comes to voting for the 1st black Prez & 1st family, they're just uncomfortable in ways that they might not even be able to explain.

10- Understood the value of an education, through his early, secondary and college experiences, and used every opportunity to progress further than his peers, eventually graduating--WITH HIGHEST HONORS-- from the Harvard School of Law. Elected by staff and peers to be the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, the most prestigious such legal review body in the US.
As oppose to McCain who essentially squandered his opportunity at a higher education (at a prestigous school) by being completed disinterested in science and math, and more interested in partying and womanizing. Graduated in the bottom 0.5% of his class ----not the bottom 5%---the bottom 0.5%.
One of these men will be called on to use the intelligence he was endowed with, along with his educational training, to make decisions to guide the most technologically advanced country on Earth and keep that country in the forefront of a rapidly closing pack of countries who wish to take that title away.
The choice is crystal clear here.

That bein said, when the dust settles on all of Palin's stuff & we get past all her personal crap and get a truer picture of her politics, I believe his gamble on her will backfire. Hopefully, when all is said & done, it will be shown that Americans are still too bright to buy her or his naked ploy to appeal to women by whatever means possible purely for his own political gain.
In terms of moving the country forward in a positive & wiser way from this point:
McCain = empty suit & head or worse
OBAMA/BIDEN in '08
"The Right & Winning Ticket"

I am one of the "lucky" ones who does not depend on others to provide me with a job. I instead have decided to take advantage of the fact that I live in America and run a small company.
The federal budget issue should be addressed by the fine men and woman who control Congress as they are the ones who ultimately vote on what spending should be done at the federal level.(I am sure thats what you meant though)
I find it ironic that you think that McCain will "keep spending money we don't have" seeing as how I haven't seen a damn thing regarding his spending plans. However, the junior Senator from Illinois has a whole shopping list of federal spending he's got ready to go. Perhaps you should add up everything he wants to do and figure out where he will get the money from (I'll give you a hint, raising taxes on the top 2% isn't going to cover all of it)
Make no mistake, I am not a McCain fan, but I see Obama pushing everything that epitomizes what I think is killing this country. I am against the pandering to the lowest demonitor in this country. If you are an adult working for minimum wage, you really should honestly look at yourself and ask "What in the hell is wrong me". If you get a government check, you should not own a cell phone, have cable/satellite TV, internet, etc. Also, you should submit to a weekly drug test and if you fail you no longer get a check. The way I see it, he has it exactly backwards, he rewards the bottom feeders and penalizes those who are successful.
This country is being pulled to the bottom because somewhere along the lines we decided that instead of telling people who are down that they need to get themselves back up, we have decided to just lay down next to them. In my experience, which is day to day with people like this, it is the federal government who has allowed this and actually encourages this to happen.
From your post, I see we differ greatly on these things.
