i'm going to try and keep my discussion of this in the thread devoted to trump's promises, but as i expected, this has no specifics at all; nor any indication that he has the first clue about immigration law or how our immigration system works. first, how in the darn is he going to do this? second, who exactly is he referring to? immigration is very complicated. people have different statuses here who are not citizens. if he referring to people with green cards who have a criminal record for misdemeanor marijuana and other petty garbage?
i suspect the 60 minutes interview will be equally devoid of specifics and some basic understanding of immigration law and the usless interviewer won't push him on it but if anyone gets any specifics on this, i'd love to hear them.

Hyperbole.......Deporting those people is nothing new. His plan is the same thing that has been going on forever. And Obama's been doing it better than anyone in the last 20 years....

it kind of depends on what he's talking about. if he's talking about deporting criminals, then yes, we are already doing that as well as we can. if he's talking about deporting people with a criminal record, than that is an entirely different matter and sounds really stupid. so it's one thing to say we have no idea what his plan is but we don't even know what he's talking about to begin with.
maybe one day someone will make him tell somebody what the darn he's talking about in the context of reality.

According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), 2,220,300 adults were incarcerated in US federal and state prisons, and county jails in 2013...
So that doubles the US prison population..
Arresting, detaining and processing three million Mexicans...
That's gonna be tough to do...

keep in mind it costs $25,000 to $30,000 to house each federal inmate per year. immigration cases take 4 months to a year or so right now. of course, if you flooded the system with that many people, you'd probably have to triple those numbers, at least. not that we have a place for these people. but, at some point, someone might also want to ask how many tens of billions or more this would cost and where that money comes from, in the same way you might want to ask how much it costs to feed that new pet unicorn you want for christmas.

separating us citizens children born in this country from their non citizen parents is going to be tough.
deporting criminals instead of prosecuting them will be spun as an amnesty plan for illegal alien criminals to evade justice and sentencing measures.
it can't be an either/or situation. in other words, if you don't prosecute them first, you can;t deport them as criminals because they aren't criminals until you prosecute them. the immigration courts are not criminal courts. so now, we prosecute them first and if they are proven to be serious enough criminals, then we deport them.
but you bring up another point. again, we have no idea what trump is talking about, but if he wants to deport every non-citizen with a criminal record, that's not in the realm of possibility but hypothetically, what do you do with someone who got a criminal conviction 10 years ago that has a normal job now and a 5 year old who was born here. deport him and let the kid fend for himself?

So the illegals in the country with criminal records can't be deported? Illegals in Federal Prisons make up 30% of the inmate population. In the new and improved world we're going to be living in very soon devoid of stupidity and lack of common sense I refuse to believe we won't be able to ship our imported problem back to where they came from. Without a doubt I know these types of b.s. Situations where a little common sense will solve problems the establishment couldn't.... After the a Sanctuary cities will be threatened with cutting off federal funds they'll play along just fine to cleanup their own backyards...

possibly a few here and there but i can't even begin to see how this works. what trump is saying is not possible to evaluate because he's not saying what he wants to do and how he wants to do it.
any illegal in prison that gets convicted of a qualifying crime or is in prison because of an illegal reentry will be deported under our current system.

without the wall with earthquake detection system to monitor tunneling activities or a top aircraft detection system to understand low flying aircrafts bid to fly "under the radar" or any clear way to track legal tourists overstaying the visa and becoming illegals deporting is useless.
like sending criminals to a no wall or door prison . or putting water in a strainer to keep.
all illegals can be termed criminals for staying in the country illegally is a crime.
the logistics of deporting 11 million people (conservative estimate) you need three law enforcement personal for every 10 illegals. and Ryan has already stepped up and stated no deporting cops to be added. deporting prisoners is easy it is the souls that assimilated into the American life and work force have children in schools
they will be the hardest to find, and the toughest for fair and reasonable men and women to deport.

Why not take some time to let things settle down? Why pour gasoline on a fire? The proper political move is to allow the transition of power to go smoothly! President elect Trump is better off holding off going public about certain matters until Jan 20 passes.imho

rudy Guliani stated early today , that immigration from terroist prone areas should be engaged with due caution citing an 18 to 24 month vetting process from immagrants from Syria. Gingrich stated today that an administration priority to deport illegal criminals is new thing.

we already have a very long, stringent vetting process for people wanting green cards and citizenship from those countries and others. maybe someone could ask rudy what he wants to do differently. i know, just kidding, why would anyone do that?
no idea what gingrich is talking about.
