Former attorney general William Barr, one of Trump's strongest defenders,
issued a scathing account of the president's conduct, casting it as
a "betrayal of his office."

“Orchestrating a mob to pressure Congress is inexcusable.
The President’s conduct yesterday was a betrayal of his office and supporters,”
Barr said in a statement Thursday.
