Labor Day weekend travelers can look forward to lower prices at the gas pump.
GasBuddy is projecting the national average price of gas on Labor Day will be around $3.27 a gallon – the cheapest for the holiday since 2021.
That amounts to a decline of 50 cents from Labor Day last year, and 52 cents from Labor Day 2022.
And it’s not far from the 2021 Labor Day average of $3.16 a gallon.
*As our forum friend Thirdperson pointed out earlier, if OPEC follows through on their statements promising to release significantly more oil after October 01, then worldwide gas prices will fall significantly as well, including here, likely to under $3.00/gallon.

falling through November!!!
After reaching a peak of $3.69 per gallon in April,
gas prices have been sliding down steadily in the
past few months, making it a good summer for motorists.
On Sunday night, Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum
analysis at fuel savings platform GasBuddy, wrote on X
that the national average price of gas had fallen
to $3.297 per gallon,
"the lowest summer level since 2021."

Americans are feeling a greater sense of optimism about
the US economy this month, thanks to slower inflation.
The University of Michigan’s latest consumer survey,
released Friday, showed that Americans’ attitudes toward
the economy improved notably this month.
“Consumer sentiment rose to its highest reading
since May 2024, increasing for the second consecutive
month and lifting about 2% above August,”
Joanne Tsu, director of the university’s Surveys of
Consumers, said in a release.
“The gain was led by an improvement in buying
conditions for durables, driven by more favorable
prices as perceived by consumers.”
