how much of the of a companies deductions are related to job creation and how much of the actions that enable deductions would have happened regardless?

thats the real question.  i dont see how you can be for govt prodding in some parts of the economy but not in others? this is in no way directed at wall, but how can you be for green subsidies (which kill jobs in other industries) but not for "subsidies" (aka tax breaks) for corporations.

i dont think it was mentioned here but what the corps do is called double dutch where they move money from ireland to holland to the caymans.
 google used this to pay 2.5% corp tax rate.  the same google that is obamas stooge and the same google that espouses human rights yet allows its cenship by the gov in china since money is better than principles to them.

Company's like GE in effect consist of two divisions ..GE Capital and everything else they own..the tax code allows them to defer overseas income indefinitely ..so US losses balance out overseas gains .
 
GE has over $80 billion in overseas income parked indefinitely outside the U.S.....
 
But eliminating deferrals and making company's like GE  report income as a stand alone corporation ....would put U.S. companies on an un-level playing field against other countries ..and lower dividends and earnings on their investments..that would also have direct effect on retirees and 401K's..
 
The Yahoo article author even gives as the solution a change to the tax code by putting a" PE ratio on the lightly taxed profit base and apply an appropriate price and his reason ... corporations are not paying taxes that are due under the spirit of the tax code."...what is the spirit of the tax code anyway ?..  ..and is it illegal if one does not have the spirit ...?
 
Remember businesses tend to pass costs on to customers so in effect increasing taxes on big corps will mean you pay more for their product ....catch 22 in effect here... plus taxing Big corp more will probably not lower your individual taxes ....if the past is any indication ...Government will only spend more ..

cd, you have a long history of being pro union anti big business.  are you just against companies that employ low skilled workers from making profits?

im not against corporations paying taxes.  i dont know how you arrived at that conclusion, i guess it could be the same place you get your other unfounded ideas from.

i watched this mediocre movie called daybreakers last night.  the remaining humans were being attached to blood removal machines yet kept alive.  sort of matrix like.  i really want to be ceo of a company that does that to poor people.  keep them chained to their cubicles or assembly line stations with defecation buckets to save time and unchaining.  that way when i hold one of my special widgets i can see the life debt sparkle in every corner of my profitable widgets and ignore the screams of the chained common folk.

Steve am not against companies making profits, am against corporations hiring lobbyists to payoff politicians to create tax laws that help them get out of paying taxes. We all you included pay taxes, why should corporations not have to pay taxes. Some of you guys, you included steve who dont give a shit that your paying taxes while rich multi billion dollar companies are skating tax laws in order not to pay taxes are either just busting balls or sorry but you gotta be just plain dumb to not be pissed off about this. You need some serious help dude.  When any person is for companies altering the food chain so they can make more profits and you dont get upset about it. I havent figured out why you are constantly on your knees  businesses.

Yup fuck us up with the food then the drug companies can create more poisons to pump into to try and correct the damage done by the food.

Am having a very hard time believing thats what you believe, am now more convinced then ever before, your here just to stir shit up and no other reason. No sane person could ever want the food cycle messed with, especially not for profits.

This is certainly a different world than when I grew up in the 1970's.  Today's young adults are slaves to the US corporate machine.

i would love to find a legal way to keep US company profit here in this country to our benefit and in such a way that discourages overseas sweatshops or outsourcing and in such a way that the companies thrive.
what we have now is corporate person on one end and a socialist leaning administration trying to pick winners and losers in this fucked up system.  the dems answer to the problem smacks of ayn rands book and the end will be the same.

GE is an example of Croney Capitalism. The best example of why we need a smaller, more limited Government that will not take bribes errr...donations for special favors in writing the tax laws. But why would the polititians give up their own power to give special favors to contributors? You'd have a better chance of getting them to cut off their right arm.

I really don't get it,  CD,  are you suggesting that somehow Companies and Corporations have an ethical and moral standard that should make them pay taxes?  

I am pretty sure that the politicians are the gatekeepers, and the legislators are who changes the tax code.  If the tax code does not get changed then Companies pay their fair share.

Just questions at this point.  

How can you fault a company for utilizing legal means to skirt their tax liability, when Legislators are actually acting in a biased and unethical manner by taking money to change tax codes?  

how does this not fall squarely on the politicians head?

Do you think that you are chasing your tail crying about the most profitable businesses on earth finding ways to be more profitable?  

I do not think that GE "owes" the Govt. anything.

I hope companies make profits, but am totally against companies get tax laws created for them, so they dont have to pay any taxes on those profits, but instead use those massive profits that they should be paying some taxes on, to pass on huge fuckin bonuses to all the big shots in the companies. Why the fuck should the ceos be getting these bonuses?  Because they got politicians to write laws to keep the money in the companies bank accounts.  Give me a fuckin break will you and quite honestly i have said it before and i will say it again, you must be completely off your rocker not to get mad knowing companies arent paying taxes on their profits, yet you have to pay taxes on the money you earn.  Seriously are you missing a few screws up there?  While your paying your taxes, some fuckin scumbag ceo is getting paid millions of dollars in bonuses, money which the company should have been taxed on had they not had laws written for them to get out of paying taxes.

And another thing, its amazing how you keep ignoring the questions i keep asking you? I'll say it, and have no problem doing so.

I don't think companies should have to pay income tax.

The money CEO's get is taxed CD. It may not be taxed when the corp earns it, but once it is passed to the CEO as wages and bonuses it is taxed.
