Sorry guys, I was gone all day posting bail for Rod.  LOL

Seriously though, Blago is a douchebag, always has been.  This got nothing to do with Obama.  If anything, it proves he is clean.  Blago tried to drag him into his BS and Obama would have none of it.

In other news, I would like to announce my candidacy for Senator from the State of Illinois.

The corruption scandal that led to Ryan's downfall began over a decade earlier as a federal investigation into a deadly crash in Wisconsin that killed six children. The investigation revealed a scheme inside Ryan's secretary of state's office in which unqualified truck drivers obtained licenses through bribes. As the AP wrote: "The probe expanded over the next eight years into a wide-ranging corruption investigation that eventually reached Ryan in the governor's office."

And the winner is Mr OPC (yeah you know me)

Only a matter of time before a liberal starts the pissing contest in here.  Don't forget about mentioning Larry  "toe tapper" Craig, or how Bush lied and people died.  Noone is allowed to post anything negative about a fellow liberal w/out the thread getting sidetracked by the liberals with non-related BS.  I guess the Fairness Doctrine will be enforced by force in here.

    Speculation Alert:

Looks like candidate 1 = Valerie Peters, who is Obama's transition advisor. Easy choice for Rod, except he said "f*** it, if he's not getting anything"

Candidate 2 = Lisa Madigan (current Illinois Attorney General). Get's her out of the way of running against him if he would run again, and endears him to a long time angst, House Speaker Mike Madigan.

    Candidate 3 = Unknown

Candidate 4 = Duputy Gov., probably Luanner Peters, who Rod thought would have his back.

Candidate 5 = Jesse Jr. who he met with recently, and was qouted as saying that he "could get something tangible from him" JJ Jr. has been voicing his desire for the job, since the election. Obviously, Candidate 5 has the most shadow over him/her.

Ah, Slim..........you have outed me........do you have a woodie?

The thread poster IS an idiot...and has always used his intelligence and knowledge to the detriment of this forum....

I was comparing Blago's predicessor to the current scandal...I don't think that was a diversion.....Just think that children dying because of unlicensed truck drivers is worse than some $$$ changing hands to name a senator....sorry if I wrong with that.

toastmaster - i heard blago wanted a big union guy so he could be "taken care of" as well

he also wanted a 503c (or 501c) so he could form a tax free "charity" and milk the unions and other donaters before new ethics laws on 1/1/09

i would give almost anything to see who the 5 candidates were

    The question now is :

If Obama did not want pay to play,is he not obligated to report the attempt to sell a United State's Senate seat  ?

That is how stupid you are.  You don't even know what you do instinctively.   What the fuck does the past governor and his scandal have to do with Blago?   I guess once you get to be as old as you are, there is no changing your mind.   Disagree with your idiotic rant,  Oh I must be an inbred redneck even though I am a college educated, successful person who takes care of his own shit.  Go change your depends and watch Olbermann.

C'mon Slim, you know Obama is too experienced a politician.
He claims ignorance and sacrifices a subordinate.
Just like Cheney threw Scooter Libby under the bus.

That guy is an arrogant moron. His ultimate demise (besides the obvious fact that he is an idiot and a crook) is the fact that Barack Obama wins the Presidency. I kind of get the feeling that there will not be any Presidential pardons waiting under the Christmas tree anytime soon for this sad clown.

Heywud....once you are finished with your mother read this.......

My point was the level of corruption and the result of that corruption....political beliefs, as much as you would want to think, have nothing to do with what I said.......

You might have difficulty equating what Ryan did to what Blago did.....and, as usual, that is unfortunate...

But, whatever you do, please do not use the educational system in the United States to verify that you have a brain that works....a degree can be BOUGHT from any school....you are the example.

Blagojevich looks like a dead ringer for Jose Canseco, minus the bulging neck.

i would give almost anything to see who the 5 candidates were

    Just curious, what were

Barack Obama's and David Axelrod's statements about it? I can not imagine any politician would not have distanced themselves from him, as much as possible, right after becoming aware of his previous (and obviously ongoing)  investigation into corruption and pay-to-play politics.

November 23, 2008, David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Chicago and said something quite different.

While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a "kingmaker," Axelrod said, "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."

Clearly spoken by someone who did not accomplish a degree.  You list sales as your occupation and you are over 60 years old.  Tell me again how a college degree is worthless and I'll direct you to the nearest  mirror to see how old people w/out education are forced to work into their sixties.  I guarantee when I'm your age I will be long retired.  Calling others rednecks and such because they have different ideology than you not only shows your lack of education, but a closed mind also.

Your only purpose on the political forum is start a pissing contest in any thread that casts a negative light on your fellow liberals.   Example;  Corzine  gets ripped on so you sidetrack to rip on a past republican Gov.   You are a one trick pony.

I have this suspicion that Rahm Emanuel did exactly that.  I don't think Obama personally had anything to do with any of it.  But I think the stuff was presented to Rahm and he went to the authorities with it.  Don't think that's been reported yet, but reading between the lines...

Not to parse but he said "he's talked to the governor" and "there are a range of names that have surfaced".  He didn't say that he talked to the governor about a range of names.  Read it again.  I think Axelrod spoke sloppily.
