Just curious, what were

Barack Obama's and David Axelrod's statements about it? I can not imagine any politician would not have distanced themselves from him, as much as possible, right after becoming aware of his previous (and obviously ongoing)  investigation into corruption and pay-to-play politics. 

November 23, 2008, David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Chicago and said something quite different.

While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a "kingmaker," Axelrod said, "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."

Clearly spoken by someone who did not accomplish a degree.  You list sales as your occupation and you are over 60 years old.  Tell me again how a college degree is worthless and I'll direct you to the nearest  mirror to see how old people w/out education are forced to work into their sixties.  I guarantee when I'm your age I will be long retired.  Calling others rednecks and such because they have different ideology than you not only shows your lack of education, but a closed mind also.

I have this suspicion that Rahm Emanuel did exactly that.  I don't think Obama personally had anything to do with any of it.  But I think the stuff was presented to Rahm and he went to the authorities with it.  Don't think that's been reported yet, but reading between the lines...

Not to parse but he said "he's talked to the governor" and "there are a range of names that have surfaced".  He didn't say that he talked to the governor about a range of names.  Read it again.  I think Axelrod spoke sloppily.
