not likely until end of next year

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, the WHO’s chief scientist, told CNBC on Wednesday
"it’s going to take till the end of 2021 till we start seeing some level
of population immunity coming up in some countries," she continued.

In the U.S., Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert,
recently said herd immunity will likely be achieved should at least 75% of the
US population receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Florida Congresswoman-elect REPUBLICAN María Elvira Salazar
said Thursday that she has tested positive for Covid-19 and will be unable to attend
the congressional swearing-in ceremony at the US Capitol on Sunday.
Salazar, a Republican, said on Twitter she was admitted to a local hospital with
heart arrhythmia, on December 23.

On Tuesday, REPUBLICAN Louisiana Congressman-elect Luke Letkow died
after being diagnosed with Covid-19. He was 41, with no pre-conditions.

Haley said Republicans 'shouldn’t have listened' to the former president.

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said in an interview
published Friday that disgraced former President Trump let his supporters down.

"We need to acknowledge he let us down. He went down a path he shouldn’t have,
and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him.
And we can’t let that ever happen again," she said of the Jan. 6 Capitol riots
that resulted in the deaths of five Americans, including a Capitol Police officer.

London -- A group of major oil producers has agreed to extend production cuts
for another month despite a recent price surge, choosing to limit supply until the global
economic recovery is more firmly established.

In recent months, rising prices have made producers more confident that production cuts
have put the market on a solid footing following their pandemic crash.

*NOTE:  By OPEC nations limiting supply, the price on oil rises.
Five years ago after the Saudis flooded the market with cheap oil, gas prices plummeted.
Now they are going up again as a result of their cutback in supply.

unemployment is going to drop to historic lows soon

The Fed offered a rosy outlook about jobs: A return to an unemployment rate
below 4% next year. That's back to "full employment" and at the historic lows
we saw before the pandemic. (We're at 6.2% today.)

But...
The unemployment rate doesn't tell the full story, and Federal Reserve Chairman
Jerome Powell said the Fed isn't going to declare victory just yet.

"No matter how well the economy performs, unemployment will take
quite a time to go down, and so will participation," Powell said.

Bush spoke virtually at the South by Southwest festival Thursday, in a conversation
with the Texas Tribune.

He said it was a "political pipe dream" to send away the over 11 million
unauthorized immigrants in this country.

"Rather than ignore the situation, we've got to address it, and
 I do believe there should be a path to citizenship," he said.
