A US judge on Monday voided a [an outlandish and very controversial] settlement between Trump and his own Internal Revenue Service [granting himself and his accomplices] sweeping protections from audits, ruling that his lawsuit over leaked tax returns had been filed for an "improper purpose."
Unfortunately, there's been no effort by the Justice Department to rein in Trump's corruption.
In fact, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, Trump's former criminal defense lawyer, has advanced the corruption. He cut a deal to give Trump, his family members and their massive network of business operations immunity from IRS investigations or prosecutions. And he backed the creation of a massive slush fund Trump could use to funnel still more tax dollars to his supporters.
It is hard to imagine that there has ever been a more corrupt deal made by a U.S. attorney general.

A federal judge on Monday imposed professional penalties against lawyers representing President Trump in a civil lawsuit he brought against the IRS and harshly criticized the Justice Department for its handling of the case, concluding that the suit was brought for an "improper purpose."
In a scathing 56-page decision, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams referred one of Mr. Trump's lawyers, Alejandro Brito, to the Florida Bar for potential disciplinary action. The judge limited the ability of a second lawyer, Daniel Epstein, to practice in the Southern District of Florida.

Lawmakers accused the Trump administration of abusing its power after officials admitted in a federal court filing they recommended terminating several billion dollars in grants for clean-energy projects based "solely" on states' "political identity" and whether President Donald Trump won the vote there in the 2024 election.
Of course this will ultimately require Todd Blanche to approve charges against his boss...
