I don't think Welfare is good for probably 75% of the people who are on it. With that said, I don't know why you make it such an excuse to racism. The Welfare system is broken. It is exploited by all races. There are just as many white people on welfare than black. Granted, there are 2-3 times more white people in the country, so black people have an exponentially higher incidence per capita but that's neither hear nor there. This is my question for you? There is plenty of truth in the notion of being a prisoner of dependence. And there have been plenty of black scholars aside from Sowell to write about thd negative effects of the welfare system on the black community. It's a issue that can't be summized by that ridiculous quote. Again, what is your goal with this quote. You bring it up this issue incessantly and if there's no one debating it, and if you're not offering any further insight, you're essentially just being a bigot. Tell me i'm wrong. Tell me what value post like that bring to your thread ir this site.

Trump likes anybody that likes him. Regardless of race, background, affiliation, ect. This has a tendency to get him in trouble. I'm often made the controversial statement, in my real life circles, that Trump isn't racist. And people say, "...but...but...the white nationalist. He didn't shy away. He accepted their endorsement." And I counter that it's not in Trump's nature to shy away from anybody that says they like him. He's insecure and needs his ego to be stroked. If the freakin' Nation of Islam would have endorsed Trump first you would've heard him saying, "You know, that Farrakhan is an ok guy. Misunderstood."

Thomas Sowell’s point (and my point) is that people use numbers to show that black people are discriminated against in America.
The reason the numbers look like that is because of welfare.
Just try to find the numbers. Look at the articles. Every article loves to point out that more white people are on welfare than any other race. Then try to find an article that points out that more white people are killed by police than any other race. Or that more white people are imprisoned than any other race.
Here’s an example of an article that makes sure to point out that more white people are on welfare than any other race. These are the numbers they give: [White - 35 million] [Hispanic - 24 million] [Black - 20 million].
Now let’s look at the US population by race.
White - 200 million
Hispanic - 47 million
Black - 37 million
Why is it that nearly EVERY article points out that more white people are on welfare than any other race? Why does NO article show the percentages?
Let’s do the percentages.
White - 17.5%
Hispanic - 51.06%
Black - 54.05%

You have entire movements tackling the wrong problem. If they’re successful a tiny tiny fraction of the problem (racism) will be solved.
Imagine if there was a movement that size that talked about the truth? That talked about the negative effect welfare has on people. That talked about the negative effects on a kid that is raised in a broken home. That talked about the average net worth of a single parent household vs the net worth of a two parent household.
What movement do you think would have a bigger, more positive impact?

In fact, if you try to talk about the truth, you’re labeled a racist and immediately shut down. Because the “truth argument” is such a foreign concept to liberals that it comes across as shocking/mean/racist when they first hear it.
They believe that welfare = empathy and compassion
I believe welfare = the problem
I have a desire to see the problem solved and that desire comes from a place of compassion.
Liberals think they have the empathy market cornered. And in reality all they’re doing is throwing gasoline onto the fire.
How sad is that?
