He left northern maine for to steamer took a passenger ship to Panama crossed by cart what is now the canal. Took another ship to sanfransisco a river boat from there to a claim. He mined for 8 years sold his rights and water rights and removed his fortune to northern maine where he settled his debts reunited with his wife and we then 12 year old girl by the time of his return.
My great grandfather was born a year later.... Many ways I would not be here.
