I am of neither political affliction, but i have to argue with the original post that Elliot Spitzer was a corrupt politician. I'm not so sure that he is a bigtime democrat either, certainly his loyalty was more to helping the citizens of the country than to playing along with all the other democrats(and repubs). He was one of the good guys.
Elliot Spitzer only got ousted by the rest of these crooks was because he was one of the few voices that spoke out against the corruption in gov't. He tried to be a whistle blower but look where it landed him.
DOn't fuck with the gov't, there's no point. they got us all checkmated. hell it seems many of you have bought in to the whole Obama is different and that 'things are better now'. yea right, he's some magical politician that all of a sudden is going to start putting the gov't to work for you you guys can't be that naive(or brainwashed)

Be Easy as a democrat i totally disagree with your thinking about spitzer. This guy was the worst kind of corrupt person. He was a do as i say, not as i do type of guy. That in itself makes him one of the worst. It doesnt matter how many good things he tried doing for people, if behind the scenes hes breaking the laws he was so strict about enforcing. This is the most dangerous type of corrupt person and iam glad he left office. This guy had a great chance at becoming President someday and its a good thing we got rid of him before that happened. Spitzer got busted using the exact same tricks and tactics he used to bust people people for the same things. This clown thought he was above all of us and could do what he wanted. If your gonna ride the white horse, then you have to live up to it.
Also Obama has been in office for 8 friggin days. My God lets see what happens.

I have no arguement for your feelings about SPitzer, because you are right. Most feel that hipocracy is the worst of all crimes, and in a way, it is. Do as i say not as i do really doesn't hold any water.
But i do disagree with you saying he got caught the same ways that he would catch criminals. I beg to differ. do some research. there's reason why he was never charged with any crime, even though the prostitution stuff did happen, and he did get caught, whoever caught him didn't play fair. You'd have to know that Spitzer was smart enough to do what he was doing so that he wouldn't get caught. He tried to blow the whistle on Madoff in '06 and was becoming a loud voice against Bush, so he proved he wsasn't going to play along, so the big boys decided they weren;t gonna let him play.
so what do they do? they discredit him, make it so his voice holds no credibility. google him, read his letter to Obama and other writings see if you don't change your mind a bit. I think an enemy of Madoff and corruption is a friend of 'the people'

Be Easy, your wrong. He didnt get charged because that was part of the back room deal he made before he quit the governorship, where he wouldnt stay on and fight to remain as Governor. Also the powerful connections his father has helped to let him get off scott free. This was just another classic case of knowing the right people to get away with a crime. Did you ever read any of the stories done by doctors about Spitzer? They talk about Spitzer of course being a very smart person and they answer your very question about why such a smart guy would get caught by the same methods he used to bust people. Its because powerful people become consumed with their power and they dont believe that they could ever get busted. The doctors have said this is the downfall of most powerful people. They really do think they are above the laws that they want to enforce on us. Its sad but true.
Also you are wrong about how they got him. The feds used the same type of wiretaps and money laundering investigator tricks that he used as atternory general. The people who busted him didnt do anything wrong or illegal. Spitzer just worked out a great deal to not get charged.
Oh i agree with you Spitzer did some good things for the people and i thought he was gonna be a good Governor in my state. He was gonna be one of the first Governors in many many many years that was going to actually help my area. That help is all gone now since Patterson has take over. Am a firm believer that if you go into public office then you need to always do the right thing everyday and all these politicians we have in this country are not following those words.

lets add ex republican senate majority leader joe bruno from ny to that list. He just got indicted on many corruption charges. The guy is already rich as hell, but that didnt stop him from wanting more illegal money. Its the greed people have in this country that is destroying us. Our enemies arent destroying our country, we are doing it from the inside.
That is what a banker told me and I believe it!!!!

You can now add the Bible thumping GOP Mayor of Gulfport Mississippi who, along with his wife, has been indicted on numerous counts alleging fraud. This scumbag in his own way maybe the worst of the lot. He has been charged with trying to get the Katrina relief fund to compensate him and his wife for flood damage done to his home in the aftermath of the hurricane. The only problem was that he suffered no damage to his home at all. This scheme was hatched even tho he had been Mayor for only a short time when Katrina hit. I f he is guilty of this, this fool and his young babe wife should get decades in the ole Greybar Hotel.Just imagine if he would have had more time to perfect his craft, they would have been no limits to the depths he might have sunk.
The Neo-Cons in here should really be careful when it comes to assigning corruption to anyone else. Their ilk has reached depths unattainable by even Jacque Cousteau, when it comes to unethical and criminal behavior.

Also darkhorse, I noticed you mentioned alot of activists,
preachers, mayors, people who ran for office, etc.
Im talking people in office now or recently. If you want to talk
in generalities how about Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore. the whole
State of ILL. to name a few. Just take your pick of politicians, they're all Dem.s
Apache, You invited adds to the list. So I did, it just happened that I added conservitives. A lot of libs could be added also. Point being that there are a hell of a lot of crooked and degenerate people involved in our society. Someone here said (in the past) that our system is broken and needs replaced. Sorry to disappoint whoever said that but the system is fine it's the participants are what's broken. But we have become a nation of sheep and we are the ones who are responsible for it. I don't vote along party lines I vote for who I believe will be in the best interest as a whole not just for me. I don't mind giving a little to help others. Let's face it the conservative party is not the conservative party anymore nor is the democratic party the same. But as long as both parties can continue to pull the wool over our eyes as a whole they win. What better way to stay in control than to have the majority divided.
