First, pass an emergency funding bill for 60 days, at current levels.

Next, GO HOME. It is time for the winter break anyway. Stay home for 30 days.

Next, do not study, consider, or pass any legislation you don’t fully understand (Tax Bill).

Next, demand a printed version of the final draft at least 20 days before you vote on anything.

Next, have a team of tax analysts explain exactly what you are considering voting for/against.

Next, listen to your constituents (those ugly critters you are supposed to be representing).

Last, debate the FINAL VERSION and vote on it. No more last-minute additions/deletions.

The tax bill is being rushed through for only two reasons. 1. DJT badly needs at least one perceived win this year, and 2. Those rushing it through do not want analysis to have anything to do with it. Confusion is better, and provides an excuse if certain sections do not work as promised. Any unpopular result will have a built-in excuse, “I didn’t realize that would be a result, we will work on it (never happens)”.

We the people is easily the most ignored phrase in the Constitution. The Washington Beltway encloses about 600 people of varying degrees of power, from a wannabe dictator at the top to miscreants and hangers-on at the bottom, but none have a shred of devotion to serving “We the People”

 

Go home, listen to the people, consider what is best for all. Do not reconvene for thirty days.

Easy to agree with keyelement.  Most Americans feel that the rich don't deserve more tax cuts.  During recessions, tax cuts and more government spending are fine.  But governments lack the discipline to increase taxes and reduce spending in strong economy as they are supposed to in order to manage deficits and debt.  However this congress has low approval ratings and is unlikely to do the right things. Unfortunately voters get what they deserve.

According to the most recent figures from Gallup, approval of Congress is at 16 percent, which is consistent with numbers from August. The last time the approval rating for Congress was lower was in July 2016, when it hit 13 percent.Sep 13, 2017

I use to work for gallup and I can tell you their polling is a fuckin.g joke and inaccurate.  So glad I got out of that place, even though I made good money there.

The following is the short, short  version. Bt=before  trump.bt we had deficits of 10T under the 8 years of O. Now we have an opportunity to unleash our economy. The Left will never go for it because it will destroy their election chances in 2018. What can the not so smart Left run on in 2018 if America is in a good economy? Nothing is the answer. Do you remember the 'Comeback Kid' under Carville?  It is the economy stupid. Quote/unquote. MAGA!

Same as you do, nothing. They are still jotting notes in the margins and suddenly noticing things that do not compute. I'm sure it could be argued about any major bill. Not sure what makes this any different to you than any other one such as the healthcare bill or even other tax bills or spending bills.  
Not really into the name-calling.  Was simply curious about which parts you did not understand is all.  Sure, most reasonable people want more money that they earn.  I get that part of it.  What I am not understanding is what you don't like about even that part, which even you can understand I am sure. Right?  So, it has to be something else, and I was curious what it is?  But if you don't really know and just want to protest it on blind hatred of Trump or Republicans, I would understand that more I guess.  Was just curious.  But if you can't really explain your reasoning --- I understand that also.

It is pretty straightforward to look it up and research what is in it and to see what experts on both s sides see as the pros and cons. And the calculators are online etc.  There are good and bad with it for sure. The same as anything else like this.  But to just be blatantly against it for strictly partisan reasons is not reasonable to me.  You have to have a better reason than that if you want to debate/discuss it civilly.  Otherwise, it seems like you wouldn't support anything Trump or the Republicans tried to do --- just to be disagreeable.

Considering the date of the election they have had 12 months to work on this. Why is it a last-minute-we-have-to-hurry-to-get-it-done-by-Christmas type of thing? My objection is mainly the last minute rush. If they think they have kept up with almost daily changes and the ramifications who are they kidding? If you hired a contractor to build a room addition, gave him a year to do it, and he wasted 11.5 months, then hit the project with a large crew and furious activity the last 2 weeks, would you not be a bit suspicious of the quality?

Oh  I gotcha.  Yes, I agree it is a push.  But of course that is just to make sure they have it done before EOY and so Trump has something to tout as far as legislation.  Because this might be his go-to thing like Obama and healthcare --- or his ONLY thing he gets accomplished.  He is not the type to get congress to work together on something small, let alone major.  But you do see this some years where things are pushed through before break.

It is not something they wasted for 11.5 months.  They have been working on it.  But sure at the end things may be somewhat rushed.  Just like anything when you have a deadline to reach.

yep---always an issue with the bureaucratic side of things   and  of course, that is why we need a straightforward tax code or flat tax type deal

Almost every question you ask, can be answered by the First Law of American Politics. Get Re-elected...if they didn't get it done, they would subject themselves to a month of nonstop negative press on all the non stop 24/7 propaganda channels that inform 98% of Americans

But for those making $10 million or more, salaries and wages only account for around 15 percent of their income. This is why the new tax bill will benefit the wealthy.

It is amazing how many Trump haters and yet he still got elected.  It seems he has done everything wrong, like all republicans.  They are all evil and the democrats are perfect and do everything right. All I ask is for someone to do their job.
