Brexit vote consequences

Stock markets around the world suffered massive losses and the British pound plunged.

"I think it's a great thing that happened, an amazing vote, very historic.  People are angry.  You know, I said this would happen.  I think it is a great thing.  We will see but I think it is a great thing.  Basically, they took their country back"

As I said in a separate thread, I think the citizens of the UK will understand the gravity of their decision.

I could be wrong, but I think there could be a clusterf?Ck  in the simple decision of a majority that decides the future of the country.

Seems a poorly concived plan.  Shouldn't a firm majority of > 60%decide the decions of the country.

They got lots to figure out in the UK.

I had to wait a while to hear enough about it before forming a concrete opinion.  Yes, the job market and borders get more control under such a move because Britian no longer will have to abide by the EU rules.   However, their currency is now weaker and the purchasing power for each individual has been reduced.  I don't think the positives outweigh the negatives.

Actually weakening their currency is a positive for exports..there are MANY countries who are intentionally trying to weaken their currency to stimulate demand, that is the underlying concept behind the zero and negative interest rates..debasing the currency is a stupid ploy that has too high of costs and little return in my mind, but it for sure is not really a big negative to the UK.

Worldwide, $2.1 trillion was wiped on during Friday's massive sell-off.

“It is hard to pinpoint the exact moment in the last eight days at which Britain’s politics became officially more absurd than America’s. Last week’s Brexit vote, shocking as it was, was just the starting gun. Since then both the Labour and the Conservative party leaderships have collapsed. The Leave campaign has swiftly backtracked on its promises. Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn, after enduring a stunning no-confidence vote, appeared to compare Israel with the Islamic State. The Conservatives’ Boris Johnson, the cheerleader of Leave and presumed next prime minister, bowed out after being stabbed in the back by his own sidekick, Michael Gove. And a leaked letter from Gove’s wife exposed the Tory party’s leading figures as little more than the puppets of media barons.”

But wouldn't a sky rocket in the rate of hate crimes be something that would be s logical and desried consequence of trumps rhetoric?

Shares of Lloyds Banking Group (LYG) and Barclays (BCS) are each down about 30% since June 23. Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has plunged more than 40%.
