    Tilt,

Trump could appoint the next Mt Rushmore of cabinet members and the left will still have a conniption.

Let them cry, complain, and meltdown.
5 more hours and the journey begins, and while the left will whine the entire time, at least the truth will be available to see for those who are objective.

I'm not too confident that Trump's term will go well, but I know enough to give the man and his people a few years before passing judgement.
It would be nice if others would do the same

that may be true, but if your standard for the secretary of education is whether she can create a safe space for kids scared of sad, confused little transvestites, that doesn't bode well for meaningful  improvements to our fucked up public education system.

First off it is well documented and known that I am a non-partisan independent. My only thing is that I loathe people who lack critically thinking ability.

Now to your post. I assume that it means you disagree with me about DeVos. If so do you care to explain with any substance why she seems to be a good pick for education department? My guess is that you will not but I may be pleasantly surprised.

How about we focus on issues that really matter. Talk about fake news. This is the very definition of fake meaningless news.

What is more important meaningful improvements to our school systems as Clubdirt pointed out. But I assume that you think this is a non issue and her twisted ideas are the answer.

sundance is alright, we just need to get him focused on the real issues as a conservative.  there's so much headway a true conservative can make in our public school systems.  so much waste, so much incompetency, so much bureaucracy.  so much inequality.

There's somthing almost perverse about an ideology that views the disposing of an unborn child in the third trimester of pregnancy as an indisputable right but the desire of parents to choose a school for their kids as bigotry.

I watched Devos answer some questions yesterday at work, it was a display of how irrational liberalism has become .

Liberals often say that racism is one of the most pressing problems in America. And yet, few things have hurt African-American more over the past 50 years then inner-city public school systems. If President Obama is correct and educational attainment is the key to breaking out of a lower economic class, then no institution is driving inequality quite as effectively as public schools.

The reality is that teachers unions are the only organizations in America that openly support segregated schools. In districts all over America, even ones in cities with some form of limited movement for kids - poor parents, usually those who are black or Hispanic, are forced to enroll their kids in underperforming schools when there are good ones nearby, sometimes just blocks away.

The National Education Association spent almost 30 million dollars during the last election cycle, to elect politicians to keep low-income Americans right where they are. Public service unions use tax dollars to fund politicians who then turn around and vote for more funding. The worse of these schools perform, the more money they demand. THIS IS CALLED RACKETEERING in the real world

Yet according to American Federation of Teachers, it is people like DeVos who are a grave threat to the public schools that made America great.

Minority groups in America's largest cities are lagging in proficiency in reading and math. Most of them attend schools that are at the bottom percentile of schools in their state. Seems like the accusation of being a "grave threat" to this system is a magnificent endorsement.

Upon further thought, no need to provide an answer to my previous post (as if one was coming).

    It's January 20th, 2017.
I would imagine some folks sensitivities might be heightened today

Q, would it kill you to give the guy a little time before you call him the worst POTUS ever?

This may be a disaster, I am aware of that, but everyone needs to take a deep breath for a minute and hope that this goes well for ALL AMERICANS

obviously, i'm skeptical, but i definitely agree with you here.  it's a clean slate.  let's try and be objective.

primarily, if i have any expectation that he'll do something good, i'd hope that he brings about cuts in government spending in meaningful ways that can be continued in future terms.

Trump prides himself in being financially successful, and that is often achieved by keeping overhead to a minimum (spare me the jokes about not paying contractors).

I would be shocked if Trump didn't start working on cutting gov't spending tomorrow, and the cuts will be massive.
Word is already out of entire departments being done away with.

Will there be collateral damage? Of course, there always is. We just have to hope the good outweighs the bad.

I'm not sure what my personal expectations are with this regime. I have trepidation, no doubt, but I also have a glimmer of hope that this can go well, and end well. I'm not saying i'm confident in that, but I am hopeful.

Not to slight Obama's slogan, but change is truly gonna come now

i'm not sure how financially successful the guy is, over and above what was handed to him, but that's no longer the issue, i suppose.

it's hard to know the details from the outside (although i do know about waste in the law enforcement divisions of government) but i imagine there is so much waste and redundancy in government that a lot could be cut with very little damage.

now, there are always going to be job losses when you cut costs, but you can't keep redundant, obsolete jobs and expect to cut costs as well.  one has to make way for the other.  ideally, people cna be transitioned into other areas that are more productive but that takes planning and foresight.

the good news for trump is if you go by approval ratings, he's starting about as low as any president has, if not at the lowest point.  so, if it goes well, it'll probably look even better for him.

    I want to commend MSNBC.
They lasted a full 3 minutes until after the helicopter took the Obama's away before the Trump bashing started.

They were hanging in there until Chris Mathews started criticizing Trump's speech, and then the onslaught began.

I thought the speech was pretty good.
While Trump was giving it, I was saying to myself that he didn't give "them" much ammo with which to attack.
I still believe he didn't provide the ammo, but they are attacking anyway

The Democratic party is finished and shows no signs of a comeback... They lost on many levels and are digging in. Please just keep handing them shovels... I believe it's un-American to not give the POTUS a chance and that's exactly who they are. I didn't like Obama, but he was my President until he proved to be the moron that he clearly is...

You don't have to be happy, nor approve, but I did notice you didn't make a post in here for a few hours ... did you use that time to go and set something on fire that didn't belong to you? Did you break sh!t?

That's what many of the other angry folks did.

I don't recall that stuff happening when Obama was elected.
There were many who were not happy (I wasn't one of them) but there were no organized protests, no smashing the windows of businesses or setting things on fire.

That's not because they were less happy with the elected President than you and some others are now, it is because they respected the process and behaved in a civl manner.
